Surely none of us think that a ground-beef patty between two slices of bread is a hamburger.
I dunno I'm sure someone put them on kaiser Rolls - then what. Not sure Buns were plentiful back in the day. You'll have to ask utee or Badge - we need a ruling

They are swapping out some antenna on our roof today, the rood is about 200 feet up, and the crane came in on a truck.

One of the best videos I've ever seen on ut, seriously, entertaining and instructive.

And this "argument" comes up all the time on associated chat sites.

It's about the question of the "best tank of WW 2" and has a superb final answer.
I watched that awhile back, and I liked the answer.
Of course, it depends on what metrics you want to use, but produce-ability, versatility, reliability, economy of operation, and ease of maintenance matter.
In pure single-tank vs. single-tank combat is the metric, then many tanks are better.  But many of those "better" tanks can't get to the battlefield because they are too heavy to get across the available bridges, or because they broke down due to mechanical complexity and lack of spare parts, or because they weren't available in enough numbers due to being too expensive/difficult to produce.

Yeah. and as you noted, our tactical approach was to use tank destroyers to engage other tanks, in theory.  The Sherman could fire a useful all purpose round.  They often had to be used against other tanks because battle is messy.

The TDs are an interesting group, I think.  The Germans favored simply "casemate" turretless TDs of course.  And of course their Panzers in 1942 were inferior against some Russian tanks.  So, the Germans creatively generated TDs on light tank chassis, at times using captured Russian guns.

Got home from transferring the kids to their mom and as I got out of my car I hear snarling and screams. Neighbor pitbull was attacking my elderly neighbor's golden retriever. Rushed over to help separate them. Dog broke the skin of the golden and her owner, so this won't end well.

Glad I was there, as I'm not sure they'd have gotten separated without myself and the pit's male owner working together.
Walked over to the golden's house yesterday to check on them. Was a lot more serious than I thought. The golden needed $2K in surgery and the pit nearly got to the intestinal wall, which might have killed the poor girl. Replaying the events in my mind, I keep chastising myself for not intervening sooner. After seeing her dog, I'm glad I intervened when I did or she probably wouldn't have survived.

When I was there, I saw the pit bite the lady in addition to her dog, and her dog did not in any way fight back against the pit--it was purely an attack, not a fight.

But apparently the pit's owner's version of the facts are nowhere near what I saw, and had the audacity to say that the golden bit his pit and that the golden bit her own owner. Apparently the police were going to cite her in addition to him for a "dog fight". Complete and total fabrication. What an asshole.

So I just completed my statement of facts and sent it to the golden's owner to forward to the police investigator. Not going to allow this outrage to stand.

That is disgusting, but it happens.  The pit owner may really believe his side of the story, or has convinced himself of it.  If the pit bit the other person this could lead to civil action.  There was an impartial witness, you.

A LOT of people hereabouts have pit bulls, mostly mixes I think.  I like them, I've been around the ones that were well trained, or not mistrained, but they are powerful dogs.

The tree that was toppled in the park.
We had a tornado skip through Tulsa a few years ago, and it apparently went right over us, sounding like the proverbial freight train.  It ripped up an 80-foot pecan tree in our back yard.  The root-ball wasn't quite that big, but it was close.
The tree fell into the front yard, caving in the garage roof in the process, and damaging my esposita's Volvo C30 and my Boss 302 with the upper branches.

I initially didn't want to intervene, but the owners couldn't get control of their dog. And none of the other bystanders [neighborhood ladies] were doing anything more than yelling "no".

Luckily as pits go, he wasn't a particularly large one. Big enough to rip right through the side of that golden though.

I'm not anti-pit. Any breed of dog can be good, and any breed of dog can be dangerous.

But I feel like certain breeds of dog (pretty much any retriever) are the type where you almost have to deliberately mistreat them to make them mean or aggressive. Breeds like a pit need much better training by an owner to control more natural aggression, but with the right owner, they can be great dogs.

That said, I suspect that a lot of the owners who are attracted to those breeds are the exact sort of owners who shouldn't have those breeds.

This happened after that Hurricane remainder came through, maybe 60 mph gusts.  I have to think that tree was weakened already, nothing else around it fell like that, though a lot of limbs came down.  A lot of the trees in the park are 120 years old, oaks and poplars mostly.

Still ugly.  Like so much automotive these days.
The overall shape is fine.  But the details are a mess.

I start getting badgers about "What do you want for Christmas?" about now.  I generally say "World peace" or "Harsher punishment for parole violators".

This year I preempted by sending out this:

That could be me.  It isn't.  It won't be any time soon, but it could be.  Reaction thus far is not promising.
Maybe because it is ugly.
