Labels!  At best- those things you mention as socialism are debatable.  And are often debated. 
By definition- they are not socialism. 
But I will steer away from what appears to be a political ( and misleading) point you are trying to make. 

If it allows Private sector involvement and/ or ownership-as SS and Medicare do, It is not socialism.

Yes,  of course it is.  The way we vote determines the form our government takes.  The way we vote is influenced by, or entirely derived from, poiltics, depending on how you view it.

Discussing government is politics.  Fully and completely.  It's not even a gray area.

I think it should all be discussed, and if you don't like "politics" talk, then we can avoid being partisan.  But non-partisan talk of any of it should be perfectly fine and civil.
A lot of you are either scared of it or can't keep it non-partisan.  Discussing the difference between socialism and communism being out-of-bounds is embarrassing.
