I liked Landman, because I'm pretty sure there was no script and they just film Billy Bob saying whatever he thinks.
I like to imagine a camera crew just stayed with him after filming a T-Mobile ad where he's walking around the middle of nowhere in west TX and made a show of it (i know the ad is due to his role, but if it was reversed).  Just following Billy Bob around, seeing what he does and how he interacts with the world.

I don't understand the popularity of Billy Bob - I don't think he's that interesting or charismatic

He seems to play the 'everyman' about as well as it can be played, IMO.  A talented actor.

Watched Howl's Moving Castle (Studio Ghibli movie) with my eldest Saturday night. Weird. I think I need to watch it again to make sure it was what I really think it was. I didn't love it, but it was interesting. Bottom lines: beauty is only skin deep, you are at your best when you are yourself, and war is bad. I think it was just a really long (or at least repetitive) riff on those themes.

My stepson likes Studio Ghibli movies and he's gotten me to watch several, including that one.

I noticed it was based on a Diana Wynn Jones novel, who was a YAF author I enjoyed when I was a kid.  I suspect the movie would've hit better if I'd read that particular book, but I haven't.  She had some good stuff, tho.

I think he has a unique (for actors) accent and is good at being suddenly frustrated.

Natalie Portman is great at crying.

For all his sprinting and motorcycle/stunt stuff, Tom Cruise is great at looking like he's working things out in his head while actively doing something.

One of my favorite actors, Gene Hackman, while being very much uniquely Gene Hackman, always made me believe the role he was playing.

That actor from Friday Night Lights (the show) and a Godzilla movie is good at being irked/sulking.

Michelle Pfeiffer is good at being a hot 60 year old.

Emma Stone is good at being cheeky.

The funny thing about Billy Bob/Landman is that he's probably in his late 60's and Ali Larter is my age (50). They never address this in the show, the 20 year age gap.  But then again, Billy Bob looked old when he was in his 40's as well.

Billy Bob was married to Angelina Jolie - I don't think we have to question his game when it comes to hot crazy women

Saw Digger.

It was weird and pretentious and had an energy/slant I don’t think a lot here would enjoy. I thought it was fine in some ways, but didn’t hold together.

I’m just kinda done with Taylor Sheridan for awhile. I did enjoy some of his shows but the writing just gets so ridiculous and repetitive that I just lose interest.

Yellowstone was good, but got worse with each season.

I liked season 1 of Landman. Season 2 just couldn't keep my interest. The actors for the female characters on Taylor Sheridan's shows have to deal with some atrocious writing. I couldn't stand the red headed daughter on Yellowstone and the wife and daughter on Landman were two of the most vapid and ridiculously stereotyped characters I've seen in a while.

Saw some guys talking about that who said people were most likely to either really like it or hate it.  Predicted very little meh or "it was ok" opinions.  They agreed with you that it's weird.

For those reasons, I'm kinda curious.

If you didn't hate women before watching a Taylor Sheridan show, you will after watching one.

Agree wholeheartedly -- cartoonish.

It was definitely very up its own ass. Pardon the language.
