Many people don't realize how great PC was as a drummer. He is probably in the top-10 of those who ever played it and was a reluctant singer before accepting the singing roll, after Geneses interviewed several. As the interviewers proceeded to sing, Phil would correct them consistently.

Finally, the band guys looked at Phil and said (loosely) "We've got our singer right here. What the Hell are we doing?".

@jgvol , we watched Lonesome Dove over the weekend.  My first time seeing it, wife had seen it several times when she was younger, but hadn't watched it in decades.  You were right, that was great.  Duvall's Gus McCrae was one of the funniest, best characters I've seen in a long, long time.  It was also one of the sadder things I think I've ever seen.  Nothing but melancholy by the end of that, but it sure was a great ride.  Worth every bit of that stellar 8.6 imdb rating.  

I wouldn't have appreciated it when I was younger.  I caught it at the perfect time in life.  Never was much into most Westerns, most of my life.

It's a bit of a time investment, but a good rainy Saturday, or a cold winter day are perfect times to fit it in.

I've probably seen it in its entirety 3 or 4 times over the years, but caught bits and pieces 50 times.

Duvall himself, said Augustus McRae was his favorite role he ever played.

He was definitely well-suited for the role.  I don't think anyone else could've done it that well.  

Wife realized that one of the MAs that works at her clinic has a baby-daddy named McCrae.  His brother is named Augustus.  She wondered about that and asked the girl, and yes, their parents named them both after Duvall's Lonesome Dove character.  Don't know about Augustus, but McCrae, I'm afraid, isn't adding much good to the legacy of that name.

Gonna have to give Lonesome Dove a try.

Watched A Man Called Otto this weekend. Nice story. Sappy. Not great, but worth the time invested.
