of course not. Israel will continue to exist. (a) they are far too powerful militarily and (b) we bribe the f**cking sh*t out of the Egyptian, Jordanian, Qatari, Bahraini, and Saudi dictatorships with $$$ and military aid which helps keep them in power in their respective countries- in large part to keep the peace with Israel.

Israel's days of being completely protected and shielded by Daddy America on the worlds stage to do whatever the hell they want are numbered however. they will not have carte blanche to brutalize and subjugate the Palestinian people. Palestine is now closer to statehood than ever before, and it's in large part thanks to Netanyahu. this is the beginning of the end for Netanyahu and his criminal regime. not too dissimilar to the beginning of the end of the apartheid regime of South Africa. which by the way- Israel supported the apartheid regime in South Africa- even offered to sell them nuclear weapons. swell bunch of people.

Well to be fair, that's what I thought you meant, as well.

But your further clarification rings true to me, and sounds acceptable.  I don't think the US needs to be as heavily involved as we are in supporting Israel.  As you've noted before, they're all grown up now and can take care of themselves.

That doesn't mean we can back out of Israel or any other ally in the middle east completely.  The region is too important, globally, and we'll never, ever be able to extricate ourselves completely.  Nor should we.
