I know the Atlanta PD remains well under funded numbers.  It's gotten a little better in the past year or so.  They have an authorized strength of 2,000 sworn officers and have 1,400+ on the force.  I think this is a larger issue than "defunding" (which of course was absurd back in the day and quickly died off).

Having a lot of cops is one thing. Releasing criminals with no bond is another thing. Cops don't like that.

I'm a bit more in favor of the "no bond" thing with certain limits.  I don't think a nonviolent person charged with a crime should be held in jail pretrial.

Someone who is clearly a danger to society or is unlikely to show up for trial, fair enough.

Criminals implies that they've been there before. And I meant that they are being released without any bond set in place. They just walk, and do it again, because they can.

Violent criminals, no.  Repeat offenders while out on bail, no.  Defendants who are a serious flight risk, no.

Why is he still employed?
In the Minneapolis PD, he'd be promoted.

One big reason why law enforcement is having a tough go recruiting is that they have to work along side cops like this clown.

It's also tough to find young men interested in being a police officer and who have no criminal record.

My son was going to do it when he got out of the Marines. We begged him to not do it.

Between the "Defund" movement and a DA that's unwilling to prosecute pretty much anyone, the cops in Austin have just about given up.

And yet the idiots in Austin just reelected that turd.  Austin voters are not very smart.  Good thing my town isn't run by Austin elected officials nor does it contain idiotic Austin voters.

There will be a point where this reverses I think.  Folks will start to notice store closings that impact them directly and streets that become deserted when once they were thriving.  Or maybe folks will just whine that their local grocery closed and not understand why.

People aren't smart enough to make the connection.  Some other idiot with an agenda will tell them it's all the result of corporate greed and the sheep will swallow that bullshit with smiles on their faces.
