I like Facebook.  Super-quick and easy way to update my family on what's going on with the kids.
I think part of the "problem" is with folks who want everything done exactly the way they want it done and have little tolerance for something outside of that.  Like you, I use it for a thing and ignore anything I don't like (I'm not really sure what I don't like I ignore it so well).  Nothing in life pretty much is exactly how I want it to be.  I've learned to deal with that.

Even the coach of the team I support is not very Smart.  Well, he is in a way I guess.

A lot of things "should" happen, but won't obviously.  Meta is a profitable enterprise, they won't be shut down.  I personally don't have a problem with FB.

I've seen a lot of effort applied to "anti-vaccine" disinformation here and there and wonder if it's Russian inspired or generated.

NATO believes Nordstream pipelines were sabotaged.

https://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory/nato-believes-baltic-sea-gas-leaks-sabotage-90694677

Why would Russia blow their own pipelines?  Putin is in Ukraine for keeps so he knows the Nordstream pipelines were not going to be put to use any time soon.  However, Russia now has a casus belli or excuse to sabotage the pipelines from Norway which would cripple the EU.  Putin hopes this winter will soften EU resolve.

It's very easy for me to ignore all the extra bulljive.

The problem is what it always is. People acting out. They do it there or on message boards or elsewhere.

Thankfully people sort of behave in real life … sometimes.

EU resolve is already getting destroyed. Have you seen their economies/inflation/energy prices? Makes ours here look like small potatoes. HO-LEE-CHIT. Only a matter of time before EU resolve breaks completely and the people revolt, as they should. Their gov'ts are corrupt pieces of sh*t and the EU is just a useless entity and a stupid, bad idea in general. The whole thing. The EU. The Euro. It should all just die.

the social media companies design the damn apps to amp people up and get people to act out. and the damn things literally track EVERYTHING a person does on their phone or computer- the tracking sh*t is downright scary. social media is literally designed to use human psychology against humans and to manipulate people. I wouldn't exactly compare it to message boards.

Yeah, that's definitely the problem for some folks.

Not my problem, though.

I post pictures of my kids so my parents and inlaws can see them, and then I don't have to spend hours per week telling the same stories multiple times.  It's a real time-saver for me!

This amuses me because I often joke that the place where I live is growing in part because Atlanta has the reputation of being mildly unlivable.

I've made the point before, which is obvious, that generally folks making rankings of this ilk have never really lived in the various places, so their ranking is about as suspect as the Top Ten Doctors in the US et al.

I used to notice this in various flight magazines, things like "Top Ten Steak Houses in US", which meant "We found ten that would pony up to make this list".

If you like where you live, great, don't worry about what someone else thinks.

On the other hand, CFB team rankings are really important at this point in the season ....

The Euro is mighty convenient for us tourists, I'll say that.  Today of course most cards are not charging a currency exchange fee, so that helps a lot.  I think the EU is a good idea, the fact it has issues shouldn't be a shock, the individual countries have issues also.

So do we.

I suppose one vision would have been to allow Russia to run over Ukraine with only some mild diplomatic protests ....
