The approach that Hamilton took is not new

Jesus Christ Superstar (which I really like) also took established norms of Jesus and his disciples

and cast them in a semi modern light but if they had had them doing hip-hop that would have been too much
And Jesus Christ Superstar was considered quite "jarring" as well.

I'm not saying this is new, artists do this sort of thing all the time.  I'm simply saying that flipping established tropes on their side was intentional, and it absolutely created the stir it was intended to.  All kinds of articles and opinion pieces on it out there, when it was first released.

All that "jarring" is fine with me, I just don't care for it obviously.  It reminds me a bit of "modern art" which also leaves me clueless.

Meanwhile, this is happening in the park, we hear the BOOM BOOM BOOM all the time, it was there while I was watching games, very annoying to me.  The good news is that it's drizzling rain and perhaps the crowds are smaller.

The dangers of living close to the city center. :)

We have big festivals like that all the time in downtown Austin, and have for decades.  It wasn't a big deal until recently, when a lot more people started moving downtown to live.

Yeah, it's a couple of days, but a LOT of people live within easy hearing distance of this thing now.  I just like peace and quiet.

I don't recall this happening before in the three years we've lived here, obviously last years would have been off.  They usually have concerts in another part of the park further away from us and we can barely  hear it indoors.

I don't know any of these "musical" groups.

This is what makes this place like the the walls of a high school girl's bathroom.
So bizarre.
I wouldnt know

I try to stay out of the girls bathroom
They won't let me give blood anymore. The burnt orange color scares the hell out of the doctors.

Obviously, the best thing about urban life is being able to walk to anything you need pretty easily.  I could manage with no car fairly well.  The less desirable things are a tradeoff against that.

I guess if you have 30 acres way out in the sticks you can have issues with hunters and folks trying to break in etc.

Only speaking for Austin, but the concerts have been going on downtown for decades, and 90% of the downtown population has moved there in the last 10-15 years.  They knew what they were getting into, in fact the main point they moved there was for the activity and electricity associated with all the downtown goings-on, yet now they're complaining about the noise.

Reminds me of people that move close to the airport because of cheaper housing, and then complain about the noise.

Saw this in Salinas, CA, where Laguna Seca Raceway is. Rich people moved in near a race track and then complained about the noise. Now outside of sanctioned race events, they have exhaust volume restrictions.

And then there's SNA airport, where they have crazy takeoff profiles to ensure the noise isn't too bad over the rich folks in Newport Beach.

A Rap musical?

Yeah you'd have to pay me to go to that, and it would be upwards of six figures.
I know this is hyperbole, but for some reason I just can’t help but chuckle at how silly of an idea this would be if it were real.

I have some friends who loved the hell out to the Hamilton music. I watched the film version and thought it was just OK.

It’s an impressive piece of art, though wasn’t really for me. I thought the colorblind casting was a nice touch. The operatic style was also a bit much for me.

I doubt I'd like it......so I don't buy tickets to it.  Crazy, huh?

I've flown into and out of that airport more times than I can count.  The steep angles still surprise me.

I told the wife next year we would leave for two days if they hold it again.

It was shaking the Windows.

I am surprised that wealthy area north of us allows this.  No big deal.
