I told the wife next year we would leave for two days if they hold it again.

It was shaking the Windows.

I am surprised that wealthy area north of us allows this.  No big deal.

I have a couple of friends with condos downtown that rent them out when the big festivals are around.  They get away from the noise and the crowds, plus they make some money on the side.

That may or may not be legal in your area.  It's actually not legal in ours, but thousands of people do it anyway.

We aren't allowed to rent for events or short term, and there is a limit on long term rentals as well.  I understand we're at that limit with a waiting list.

Some units on our hall are unoccupied, two of six in fact.  I did see the owner of one and he said he's moving out but it's taking a while and he is keeping it for investment purposes.

We had cars parked everywhere in the street below us, I gather they figured the popo would not get to them.

Today is quiet and drizzly here, the usual traffic noises.  Traffic here is back.  Things are not much different than "before".

Construction is back with a vengeance, new projects pop up almost weekly.  On Saturday we wondered through this new place.  They have a really nice outdoor bar and pool on the 9th floor with a garden but it's going to be restricted to guests and condo owners soon.  The downstairs bar looks nice, with bar prices for drinks, like $14.  I'm not much of a fan of $12-18 drinks.  I looked at the restraurant menu, looks worth a try maybe.

This developer is about to start a Phase II, another city block sized thing that will raze some older houses and apartments that are pretty scuzzy.

A marketing brochure for Phase 1 retail space obtained by What Now Atlanta outlines plans to build 300 luxury apartments, 500,000 square feet of Class-A offices, and 35,000 square feet of retail in a project called The Exchange. Plans identify the block bounded by 12th Street, 13th Street, Peachtree Walk, and Crescent Avenue – just east of 1105 West Peachtree – as where the mixed-use development would rise.

Yup.  I miss the good ol' days of the early pandemic hysteria.  You could drive anywhere you wanted, without seeing another soul on the road for miles.

Of course, nothing was open so there was nowhere to go.

Can't have it all I guess.

Someone is going back to the office full time here in MSP. The MnDOT automatic counters that I regularly watch are showing that volumes are right back to where they were back in February 2020.

Same with flying. The Mrs. and I flew to Los Angeles back in February, and LAX was totally, completely dead. It was really odd.

I have some friends who loved the hell out to the Hamilton music. I watched the film version and thought it was just OK.

It’s an impressive piece of art, though wasn’t really for me. I thought the colorblind casting was a nice touch. The operatic style was also a bit much for me.
I thought the casting was in fact NOT colorblind?

Colorblind in the sense that it's not saying "this character is this race and therefor, the casting must be that race." (This is apparently a bit of an issue in places in the theater community)

Yeah, it's a couple of days, but a LOT of people live within easy hearing distance of this thing now.  I just like peace and quiet.

I don't recall this happening before in the three years we've lived here, obviously last years would have been off.  They usually have concerts in another part of the park further away from us and we can barely  hear it indoors.

I don't know any of these "musical" groups.
Cincy,

You've made it.  You're officially old.

If it's too loud, you're too old.

I've been old for years now fellers, and just ticked off another cycle around the sun last week.  My kids drove in to be here, which I appreciated.

It's good when your adult kids like to be around and listen to you a bit and ask advice (which now I don't much give except a bit on finance if asked).

you've been old a while, now just getting to the point of being grumpy and easily annoyed regarding loud music and reactions to social media blasting you for your opinion on entertainment

If it's too loud, you're too old.

I was at the David Lee Roth concert in Austin when he was touring for his solo album, Skyscraper.  At the time, it was billed as the loudest concert ever produced.  I was 16 or 17 and listened to a lot of loud music, but I had to duck out into the concourse multiple times.  That concert was too damn loud.

Heh, it's amusing, being grumpy and reviled for it, and of course I don't care.

One loud concert across the street for two days a year is "OK".  It's the bass that carries of course so most of what we hear is loud booming with little else.
