Absolutely.  Replacing a bunch of old wigged whities with POC, and representing their thoughts and expression in a modern urban musical style completely disconnected from the staid roots of the Founding Fathers of American Independence?

If you didn't get that, from the artist's creation, then you most certainly missed the point.

Because believe me, every editorial and entertainment opinion piece, COMPLETELY understood the intentions, and commented on them at great length.
Eh. I thought it was a fun musical and a good show.

Was it "interesting" to see the founding fathers as POC and spittin' rhymes? Sure. That was something new that we haven't seen before.

Was it "jarring"? Not to me. Maybe I'm just harder to knock off kilter than most people...

The approach that Hamilton took is not new

Jesus Christ Superstar (which I really like) also took established norms of Jesus and his disciples

and cast them in a semi modern light but if they had had them doing hip-hop that would have been too much

another musical that tried to modernize our founding fathers was 1776

If youve never seen it would be worth your while

again while Ben Franklin had his share of chippy remarks there was no hip-hop

I've seen 1776. Unfortunately it was my son's school's 6th grade presentation of it.

Here's how little I knew about that one... He told me he was playing John Adams. I thought to myself "hey, that's a decent part, he was pretty important in the Revolution"... It wasn't until I actually saw the performance that I realized he was the damn lead lol...

I should watch that one.

I saw the original Broadway cast performance when they were on tour and went to Austin

William Daniels played John Adams as he also did in the movie

and its not a race thing

I hate white hiphopers equally

Ive watched many shows with all black casts and enjoyed them very much

Porgy and Bess is an example

I even went to see an all black cast of Hello Dolly staring Pearl Baily at Jones Hall here in Houston and it was great

but when our founding fathers start doing hip hop youve lost me

I didn't mention race at all.

I first declined when it was just the wife, but when both kids drove all this way and both wanted to see it ... I thought I'd see what it is all about.  I saw.

Seemed like a family outing.

It was $40 to park there, fortunately we walked.

Is there a difference between rap and hip hop?
