Barely blowing at all. The sun was out, the temps hit the low 70's and as I said, hardly a breeze. One of the most beautiful days to play golf other than the very limited daylight hours.

I recommend The Taste of Conquest: The Rise and Fall of the Three Great Cities of Spice, by Michael Krondl.

Lots of description of what the 1% ate 500 years ago.

Overwhelmingly, the spice was pepper, to cover up the taste of food gone bad.

EDIT: I thought I quoted CD's comments about Salt when I posted this.  Anyway, this was in response to that.

Yeah I have no idea why the Youtuber didn't title it correctly.  It was just the first one I pulled up whilst looking.

I sang it to my 13yo daughter after posting it here, and she was cracking up.  I asked why and she said, "you're singing about all these horrible things in such a cheerful way."  She gets it. :)

Today, let’s remember one of the U.S. Army’s loudest (though not necessarily most dangerous) weapons of World War II. The T34 Calliope was a unique tank/rocket launcher combination that added two racks of rocket launchers to the turret of an ordinary Sherman tank. The result was an artillery piece that could dump up to 60 rockets on a target area, saturating it with nearly 260 pounds of high explosives.

I was going to post that the A Bombs were weapons employed by the Air Force but then remembered that the Air Force didn't come into being until 1947. Being as the Air Corps was actually part of the Army during WWII and specifically 1945 when the 2 A Bombs were deployed, you are correct.

My Dad was in the USAAF 1942-1945.

We only had two branches back then, Army and Navy.
