Mmmmmm Tex-Mex.

A new place nearby just opened, they've got really great Tex-Mex AND some awesome interior-style dishes as well.  I hope they make it, the last 3-4 restaurants in that space all failed within a year or so.

They won't let me give blood anymore. The burnt orange color scares the hell out of the doctors.

We were at the Cape for the second-to-last shuttle launch...then it was scratched. Serious bummer. We watched it with our kids on TV weeks later, like we had as kids in the 80s, but that was a missed opportunity. Sigh.

Anyway, last week we took a partial vacation down to Palm Springs. Work and school online worked just as well from there, and we all took it extra easy, and took Veterans Day off. Friday I completed what I'm calling the "Palm Springs triathalon:" swimming, tennis, and golf in one day. :-)

It was nice down there. Not that warm, though, until Friday. Good to change scenery and pace a bit.

Yeah we did almost a full week down at the beach back in October over Columbus Day weekend, it was great.  Kids had 2 days off already, plus a weekend, and then we fudged through a couple other days with the kids being in "online school" while down there, or driving home.

There is a new burger place near us that we tried twice.  It's not bad, over priced IMHO, and we have better options.  Anyway, we dine fairly often at a place next door that we like, and I almost never see the burger place doing business.  The "owner/manager often is outside bopping about, joshing with folks in the side walk, I don't know about what.  There are a number of dining places in that side street and they'll all be crowded and he's empty at prime time.  I asked him how business was and he said it was great.

I don't know if they are washing money or what, but I'd be shocked if he is covering his nut.

Several places have closed permanently in that section already.  So, there is more business for the rest I guess.

Hmmm... is a gyro wrap really a sandwich?  If so, then you could argue that a taco or burrito is a sandwich.
