Well it certainly isn't Tech, lol.

I find it interesting that 6-9 are so close in metro population.  Some of this of course is how a metro area is defined.

Yeah, fascinating looking at the "San Francisco" one. Closest I can get to its numbers are San Francisco, Marin, Contra Costa, Alameda, and San Mateo counties, which makes some sense, excluding Santa Clara (where San Jose is), and the further outlying counties. But the "Bay Area" is generally considered the nine counties that have bayfront property (pop. ~$7.5M; including the five I listed above, plus Santa Clara, Sonoma, Napa, and Solano). San Francisco itself is a "small" big city, pop ~850,000; 4th largest in California, behind LA, San Diego, and San Jose.

Atlanta metro at 6.5 dwarfs Atlanta city proper at 0.5.

But the state has 159 counties for some reason.

The old tale was that they limited to the distance a horse could ride in a day maybe? No idea if that’s real.

Brewster County, TX is roughly 5x larger than the state of Rhode Island.

Everything is bigger in Texas.

Probably not, Fulton county is oddly elongated, over 70 miles in length.
