Huh.  Never realized Reed recorded two versions of that song.  The radio and record version with "East bound and down, loaded up and truckin'," and the alternate version from Gig'em's clip above, "West bound and down, 18 wheels a rolling."

Both versions are used in the movie.  The first one is at the beginning when they're west-bound from Atlanta to Texarkana, and the second is when they're east-bound after picking up the beer, and headed back to Georgia.

Yeah!

I saw that movie 25+ times before learning Reed was the singer of the song and that he was a singer and not just an actor.
Hooray, TBS.
I also grew up thinking Justice was saying "scumbum" and not "sumbtich."

The movie spiked Trans-Am sales a lot.  I don't remember how much, but a lot.  I learned it on the internet, so...

It did. All my friends and I wanted one. Some of us got them (Formula for me - technically not a TA, but).

Makes sense.  I've never seen the movie.

Heresy!

We went to the theater when it came out.  I was shocked at age 7 that it did not win best picture at the self-congratulatory awards show I had watched with great anticipation.  I think some crap called Star Wars won everything that year.

Woke up this morning--had slept clear until 6!--and saw that the series finale of The Boys had dropped.

Glad I'm done with that.  Had to get to the end, though.
