@betarhoalphadelta so sorry.  I guess we are just at an age where this is a thing.  Many of us have been through it and it seems like many are now going through it.

Note to you and @OrangeAfroMan :  One thing I found is that sometimes the loneliest time is after the funeral.  Beware and be ready for this.  When a parent dies there is a whirlwind of activity.  This is especially true for your guys since you live far from your parents so you have to arrange flights, in Beta's case get grandkids there, etc.  Then there are things to handle, planning the funeral, going to the funeral, etc.  Then back home you'll see all your friends and they'll all tell you they are sorry and you are BUSY the whole time.

When all the dust settles from all of that . . .  Then you have this point when you are done with all the things you need to do.  There are no more flights to arrange, no more funerals to arrange/attend.  The burial is done.  Nobody is around to tell you they are sorry and keep you company.  You are just alone with the realization that one of the two people who have literally known you since before you were born isn't there anymore.  To me that was a tougher time than the whirlwind of activity.

If you need someone to talk to when that alone time hits you both know that we are here for you.

Thanks, everyone. It's one of those ones that's not surprising, given all her health problems, but also unexpected because it's not like it was some consistent downhill slide. If a cat has 9 lives, I think given all her issues she was on her twelfth...

My older sister is heading to CO to be with my dad right now as she has a lot more schedule flexibility than the rest of us, and then we'll be out there whenever this all gets arranged.

RIP.

I saw him live several times, his music was ubiquitous around here in the 70s and 80s.

Yeah lots of good boat tunes from him.  You can't go to any dance hall in Texas where a cover band is playing, and not hear You Never Even Called Me By My Name.

This one was my favorite by DAC.

"Dirty" DAC is something everyone should skip.  If you've never had the displeasure of running across it --- don't.
