Getting these clowns to essentially vote themselves out would be a problem. They taste the power and they want to keep it.

The other problem would be getting 3/4 of the states to ratify. 18 States are controlled by D legislatures. 30 are controlled by R.

If the states were to choose their senators, there would be 60 R's in the Senate today.

D states are not voting for this.

If each party got one per state, and we kept the filibuster, it would actually force those clowns to compromise

Putting in my online grocery order for the week, it no longer provides the prices on meat or produce, saying prices will be determined at day of pickup, even 24 hours out from pikcup slot

Just doing normal grocery shopping is like ordering steak at a white tablecloth restaurant at this point

Yeah, last week I went to Publix for some things. I spent $150 and didn't even buy any MEAT (except from the deli). No booze either.

That was just basics like eggs, milk, produce, etc. And it probably cost me an additional $10 to get there and back.

There is already one chamber of right-wing reactionaries in the federal government. There doesn't need to be 2.

Bidenflation for ya. Elections have consequences, as they say.

I have no clue how regular working class and low wage folks are surviving right now to be honest with you.

there is only one wing in the federal govt- the right wing. The Dems are not left-wing in the slightest. That's a funny joke. Sure, you have people like Bernie, AOC, and the Fraud Squad who claim to be "left-wing" - but they have little to no power- and they literally never use their leverage to exercise power when opportunities to do so arise. They do whatever the mainstream of the party tells them. Look at AOC's voting record- she always falls right in lock-step on the major issues to whatever Nancy Pelosi tells her to. Always. Every. Single. Time. Without fail. And why? Because it's self-dealing, she wants committee seats and she wants to keep her spot in the House and she wants fundraising $$$ from Pelosi and she doesn't want Pelosi to prop up a competitor in her district in a primary and run someone to the left of AOC. The AOC faction and the "left-wing" is nothing but complete performative theater.

Yeah, it's really pathetic, sad and disgusting. But just goes to show you just how corrupt things are in DC and how out of touch the elite who run the federal govt really truly are.

Kinda funny how almost immediately after the US gets done spending roughly $50+ billion a year in Afghanistan- they are now spending $54 billion in Ukraine in about two months. There is no oversight in this aid package, it's SEVEN BILLION dollars more than what Biden administration was even asking for, there's roughly only $760 million allocated for "food support" - MOST of this money is going to weapons/military spending (something like 60%) the next largest chunk goes to paying salaries and pensions of Ukraine govt- one of THE MOST CORRUPT governments on earth. There is less than 0 % chance huge portions of this money will not get stolen. And the military aid allows for shift of weapons being delivered to go from "defensive" to "offensive" - this will just prolong the war, not end it. Corporate welfare cash grab by Raytheon & Friends and the rest of the MIC. Biden giving speeches at missile factories. Lol.

Everyone needs to take a look at this video....

Because the alternative is worse.

Not sure I agree 100%. Obviously I think the girl is a complete and utter moron, but some of what she campaigned on, I kinda agree. She was "anti-war" and campaigned on getting a floor vote for medicare for all. Ok. I can get down with that. Not sure medicare for all is the answer- but healthcare in this country needs SERIOUS reform. This is the richest country in the history of the planet, and you still have 30+ Million people without access to healthcare (roughly 10% of the population). Insurance and drug prices are out of f**king control and increasing every single year with no end in sight. The #1 cause of people filing for bankruptcy in this country? Medical bills. Shit HAS to change. It just has too. She could've pushed for a floor vote on medicare for all- she didn't- campaign promise broken. She was talking like she's anti-war- which OK I'm all for that. War should be a last resort, period. And we should fight OUR wars, not other countries wars. And she pretended to be all "anti-war" - and did she just vote against this massive $40 billion weapons package to Ukraine? Nope. Not a single Dem did.

Broad claims she wants to "defund the police!" - then turns around and votes to expand the Capitol Police and expand their budget by $2 billion more and turn them into a spying agency with field offices all over the country.

Could it be any worse than what we currently have in DC?
Probably?

State legislatures have a few issues:
-they are in better position to build their own election maps, which allows for power consolidation.
-States tend to shift less individually than than the overall electorate. This means more entrenched power structures and minority parties that get weirder to gain attention
-As much as we lament the state of media, there’s at least more attention on DC because there are fewer people and they’re more high profile. Tracking the shenanigans of South Georgia state senators gets little attention and there are few resources to do it (thus corruption can blossom unseen)

This is not to say the current system is good, but simply assuming that trusting smaller time pols and their judgement seems dicey. (Plus appointed jobs breed patronage)
