My favorite chicken place is closed due to not being able to find staffing.  Note said they hope to reopen next month.

Our favorite casual italian place did too...3 months ago...they just closed last week.

The last time we ate in person there was the weekend in March 2020 when everything was shutting down, and we wondered if what we were doing was stupid.  Glad we got one last meal in there.  We got take out a couple times to support them, but it didn't age well after 20 minutes in the car in a to go container.  But we were happy to do it.

Some places here closed and are gone, but more are opening now faster than any are closing.  There is a labor shortage partially because so many new places are opening.

A new food court just opened a few weeks back, it has been very popular thus far.

Politan Row at Colony Square

Farm Burger reopened, they told us they would have sooner but couldn't secure staffing.  I had $100 in gift cards from there (via Costco for $75), so I'm glad they are back, and their burgers are pretty solid.  A friend is opening a new place near the food court "soon", he also tells me getting staffing is his biggest issue.  He has a web site, but no restaurant.

We were luncheoning in the Semper Fi Bar the other day and the TVs had the Olympics on, and I was pondering why I didn't care about them.  They were showing a badminton competition.  OK, so maybe the athletes are top drawer and excellent at the sport.

I'm sure they are, I just don't care, at all, about that a many other sports.  I do like curling because it makes no sense.

There are so many events now I have lost interest in the whole thing.

We had lunch out yesterday and today, at half decent places.  I am really noticing a trend of incompetence among the various workers.  Or perhaps they are poorly trained and brand new.  I know places are really struggling to hire anyone.

We went to a casual fish place today where you fill out a card with your order and hand it to the cashier.  I ordered fish and chips and a drink, that's it.  It took him over a minute to enter the order into his computer, and then he got it wrong and had to call the manager.  It's a place where you get a frequent dining card and he messed that up as well.

Well, yesterday we had lunch at Blue India which is very very good and the server was competent, and Indian.  The day before was a quasi-disaster.

MTV was launched 40 years ago today.

I'd like to thank them for 15 years of music.

Yes.

Once you see the video, you can't unsee it.  That video--stupid, skanky, disgusting, whatever--becomes that song for you.

That's not that far off.  I think during high school for me it really started pivoting.  I graduated 19 years ago, so it was definitely <20 years
