Obviously the Huskers haven't been very good lately.

the only instance recently at all would have been the Big Ten Championship meltdown vs the Badgers that I attended

There have been a few during Osborne's tenure, Mizzou in 78 after Tom finally upset the Sooners.

Just watched that movie over the weekend. My wife had somehow never seen it.

we were slated for a three day vacation, now.  The wife came back from pilates and said she hit something in the road and the low tire pressure thingee was lit.  I got down and see the front tire is basically perfed on the sidewall, not a chance of holding pressure.

Our motel reservations were nonrefundable, I could not find a rental car in the entire city.  So, I go down to change the tire.  I have not changed a tire in 45 years.  The car was in the garage downstairs in a poorly lit area.  I'm getting sweaty and greasy and trying to understand the manual's directions.  I finally figure it out, the wheel had little plus covering the lug nuts, I get the lugs off, the wheel off, the spare space saver out, and I can't get the holes lined up right.  Fuss fuss fuss.

I asked the wife to call our lodging place and sweet talk them into a delay, which they did, two weeks out.  I finally relent and call AAA to get the spare on.  Dude shows up in  about 30 minutes, very helpful, shows me what I was doing wrong, mounts the space saver.  I'll get a new tire on tomorrow morning, with any luck.

At least now I know how to change a tire in this new fangled car thingee.

hopefully, knowledge you'll never use

must be a foreign car thing, I've not had to check the manual to change a tire in all the vehicles the ex, my daughters, or I have driven.

How does a person go 45 years between hasty tire changes?!?  It seems like I do 3-4 every other year.

The Caddy had multiple tire issues, in part because it had 35 profile run flats.  Just about any pothole would damage a tire, I sold it mainly because of that.  If you have run flats, you have no spare, so no tire to change.  I hit a pothole in a freeway in Cincy and it blew the tire and the rim.  Those times were pricey.  I think it was $1400 for both.

No spare in that car.  Low profile tires are not good at all, they don't help handling and they are heavier.

Before that, I can't recall having a flat, I probably did and called AAA.  The kids had flats fairly often in C-bus.

I dunno what the wife hit, but it tore up that tire.  The current car is a GTI, with a manual, which I prefer.  I do miss memory seats though.

I dimly recall jacking up an old car with a regular jack in the bumper, crank crank.  This one is a scissors jack, it worked fine.  I couldn't manage to get the space saver on the wheel correctly apparently because I needed to jack it higher.
