Best goat I ever ate was freshly prepared by a Catholic Priest from Uganda.

Long story.

If I ever bump into a Priest from Uganda I'll ask him to fire up the spit

If you ever find your way back to Madison (in summer of course) Dotty's has or had a greek lamb burger, which is among the best food I've had. It's not on the menu at the moment, but I wonder (hope?) that's a COVID thing.

Goat's common around here.

Best goat I ever ate was BBQ'd cabrito on the grounds of a huge Mexican hacienda outside of Saltillo.

Apparently a chain. Judging by their web site it'll probably be good, but overpriced for the "atmosphere"...
Yup, they have about ten other STKs, so a small chain, and over priced is I think guaranteed.  There is another spot called Bones will is supposedly the best in town, according to some.  The real best place is probably some one off in the 'burbs that gets no press.

About – Bone's Restaurant

Bones opened its doors in 1979 with a mission to provide only the finest service, steaks and seafood. Since that time, we’re proud to have been recognized as the best steakhouse in Atlanta — and by many, as the best steakhouse in America. Prime beef, fresh seafood, and Maine lobster are served along with regional specialties from our Southern roots.

The Whole Foods near us has an aged beef selection and they age it themselves.  I might give one a go.

As many note, a steakhouse is not really unique enough for me to get overly excited about.  I can snare a really good steak at Midtown Meat Shop for $40 or so and open a terrific bottle of wine and fix taters and have a great meal here with little difficulty.

And that on an electric grill, which is far better than I expected.

I'd rather dine out French/Italian/Thai/Vietnamese/Japanese/Persian/whatever.

Have any of youse guys ever dined at an upscale Mexican place?

I almost always order seafood at steakhouses, provided it's one that specializes in both.  I can do great steaks at home, but the quality of seafood a high-end restaurant can get, tends to be better than what I can grab on my own.

I highly recommend the 30-60 day dry aged steaks
I grill them at home when I can find them

Oh and a definitely yes on upscale Mexican.  There are a few really well-established Mexican fine dining places in Austin, Fonda San Miguel is probably my favorite.

Never a bad idea if you can. You might be too fancy for it, but it is a nice mid-priced restaurant of high-quality.

I don’t have much time for Burgers most of the time, but if I’m in Madison, I will ideally like to stop in

I'm not fancy... Trust me. IF given a choice, my last meal would be a burger and fries.

Unfortunately, I'll probably never get there again. Not only do I want to avoid Chicago, I think this virus is going to kill this and many other places off.
