To be fair, it is a stupid system. Most people want to believe we have smart systems, so they assume competence where none exists.
To be fair, you think it is a stupid system. Some of us believe that it works well as intended and its intentions are a good thing.

Stupid or not, it isn't going to be changed any time soon, so I don't stress over it.  It's like gravity and aging, and it doesn't rhyme.

One item I strive for in life is to worry less about things outside my control and more about what I can control.

It helps a lot.

Do you all consider a hamburger to be a sandwich?

an item of food consisting of two pieces of bread with meat, cheese, or other filling between them, eaten as a light meal.

So a hot dog is a sandwich as well?

Identifying stupid flaws in the system and loudly complaining about them has been pretty much my entire career so complaining about the electoral college is right in my wheelhouse. Keeps me sane instead of just going along to get along.

Using that definition, I would say yes.

If loud complaining is what keeps you sane, have at it, it beats going insane.

I am more in the just going along to keep sane crowd.  It works for me.  And neither approach changes much of import I find.

I saw an interesting opinion piece the other day that said that when asked in a professional survey, only 3-4% of Democrats or Republicans believe that violence is appropriate if the "other side" wins, but that about 48-50% think that the other side thinks it is.

As Badge is fond of saying, the reality is that we are a much more moderate and unified nation than the agitators would have you believe, but the agitation has led to a great deal more mistrust of "the other side" than we have previously had. This is an interesting conundrum that I truly hope that our leaders--on both sides--will work to remedy.

I know that in politics--as in any competition--the actors play to win, but unlike other competitions, the overarching point of politics isn't supposed to be winning, it's supposed to be good governance. If that's not what the politician is in it for, then they shouldn't be in it. Alas, we all have different opinions about who that last statement should apply to, and unquestionably, power is a corrupting influence.
Surveys make for nice conversations.  They feed “ theory” and debate.

Then there are real life things that we see, CLEARLY, with our eyes.

I don’t know how anyone can credibly debate those things.  The violence, destruction, looting and all of that which we witnessed all summer are clearly not Trump supporters.  Can’t you just admit that?

If you want to wax eloquently about the “ why” and somehow come up with a conspiracy theory about how all of those Antifa animals are really Trump supporters in drag- have at it.
Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.

See, I could give you an answer to that question--one that satisfies me, but I suspect you wouldn't agree with it, no matter how eloquently I stated it, but I've been told to stay away from overt political statements around here, and I'm doing so.

How about you?

Not really talking about definitions in a dictionary, more like, what do each of us consider it to be?

If someone has a bag of fast food, and pulls out a wrapped product and says to you "Wow, take a look at this freaking sandwich!"-- are you expecting to see a hot dog?  Hamburger?  Or more like a ham on rye or a reuben or something?

I worry that when POTUS loses, he's going to incite his fans via tweet to cause mayhem.
This is hyperbole of the highest order. Relax Chris Hayes. Stop watching MSNBC. Can’t stand that CIA propaganda and Maddow has a bigger dick than that dweeb Chris Hayes.

He’s not going to lose imo. I don’t see the enthusiasm for Biden. I think he’s actually a worse candidate than Hillary was.

It’s not 1980. Or even 1990. Polling is essentially worthless today imo.

No, it’s not. The fact that you say it’s a stupid system astounds me.

The founders of this country were a HELL of a lot smarter than anyone involved in government today.

We did a kitchen in the house about 5 years ago.  The wife got really really stressed (I didn't).  It took three months mostly because they ordered the wrong island top.

This one lasted nearly 3 months mostly because the electrician added some strip outlets after the backsplash boys had measured, so the backsplash had to be remeasured and recut.  There was so much reno work going on in the city everything was backed up.

Little things cause delays.

I thought the kitchen was OK when we bought the unit.  We did fatten up the cabinets which helps a lot in a smallish kitchen.

The brand new condos being built have some nice kitchens in them appearancewise anyway, because of course that sells.

Is that yours or the condos you’re talking about ?
