The majority in this country could not pass a grade school civics exam.
At this point, I’d settle for even 20% of people knowing the difference between prison and jail.

More demo starting near us, this is for the 60 story apt/condo building.  I wondered with the wife if we were getting overbuilt.  They have an ad for anyone wanting to lease, in a building that has to be 2 years out at least.

https://1072westpeachtree.com

Wondering if my downtown (San Diego) is getting overbuilt as well. I live in a residential high-rise surrounded by high-rises, and since moving here a few years ago, my neighborhood has, at any given time, had 3 to 4 other residential high-rises undergoing various stages of development: Opening to residents, topping off, burrowing work for foundations, clearing older structures, etc.

These are incredibly expensive properties to build (especially here in California), construction can last up to 3 years starting with the intensive earth-moving for foundations, construction can be quite invasive given the racket from drilling and the long term closure of city streets/sidewalks along certain blocks, and the permitting process for construction approval can take 10 - 12 years given how many layers of approval are required - again, California.

So by the time a residential tower is built the rental costs, to include parking/elevator/trash/pet fees average $2400 - $2800/month for a one bedroom unit. Yes, that's high but that's the cost of living in a building that's ten years in the making. I wonder...

...where exactly is the market going to keep coming from for this type of lifestyle??? Your rent is what otherwise would be a mortgage on a 4 or 5 bedroom home in the suburbs of Kansas City or Indianapolis. No garage, no room for storage or a second vehicle, no yard. Turnover in these building is understandably high; their high-earning rental base eventually does leave for homes. It's not reasonable long-term living. These buildings are rarely full yet more and more are erected year by year for a younger economic demographic with seemingly less means to afford this option.

I've asked the same question of high-end residential real estate in MSP.

My thought is that the housing market is so tight that overbuilt is not even in the discussion. I don't know how San Diego is, but MSP needed 25,000 housing units 10 years ago, and there has been very little movement to deal with it. More supply at the top frees up supply further down the food chain.

One of my clients is a developer who does affordable housing, which is sorely needed almost everywhere.

Everyone wants that, but nobody wants that.

It's very rewarding when I'm able to help ram through an approval from city hall.

Next public hearing for my latest project is on May 1. That's gonna be a rock fight of a meeting.

I grew up in a small town where everyone knew all the members of the police force and they all knew you

umless you commited a felony you werent arrested instead your parents were called and you were taken home

believe me in my family jail would have been like a vacation and whatever I did I damn sure never did it again

Out of the three times I was in jail... I'd much rather have stayed there than go home. Trust me...

so...this whole Trump indictment thing....anyone want to take a stab at it without getting political?

from what I can gather it's a nothing burger from an overzealous Manhattan DA trying to make a name for himself. as the saying goes...a Manhattan DA could get grand jury could indict a ham sandwich. Wouldn't be surprised if it gets thrown out of court- and if it does go to trial I'll be shocked if he doesn't beat it.

From what I've read/understand...the case has statute of limitations issues- statute of limitations is 4 or 5 years- can't quite remember- this alleged crime took place 7 years ago. Falsifying business records is a misdemeanor in NY state and the falsification of records would have to be related to some sort of fraud or other crime committed. Sounds like this DA is trying to shoe-horn the charge into a felony by claiming the pornstar hush money payment violated federal campaign-finance law- which is a federal crime which means this NY state DA has no jurisdiction.

The feds looked at the pornstar hush money case and said there was nothing there- and decided not to charge. The feds tried to bring a different but somewhat similar case against former Senator John Edwards- and he was acquitted. They would have to prove any hush money payments were made solely for the sake of the campaign- and Trump could easily argue they were made to protect his family and marriage. John Edwards actually used campaign funds to pay off his mistress- and he successfully argued in court he paid off his mistress to save his marriage- not for the sole purpose of saving his campaign. Trump could argue the same- and Trump used his own money- not campaign funds.

BTW the FEC found in their investigations that Hillary Clinton and her campaign violated federal campaign-finance law over that whole funding of the bullshit bogus Steele dossier- and she was ordered to pay an $8,000 fine and the DNC was ordered to pay a $120,000 fine. Just sayin'.

Seems to me like everyone is losing their minds over a nothing burger here- and all this DA has done is hand the Trump campaign a gift on a silver platter for '24. His lead over DeSantis- his #1 contender for the '24 GOP primary has literally exploded since the indictment news came out.

This case was always nothing but hot air- the potential case in Georgia was far more serious and legit- and that may be in trouble now imo. When he swats this one away- it'll really look like a political persecution if another state tries to charge him. NY Dems have handed this guy a gift with this charge. He's going to get off easily and this whole thing will just make him even more popular imo.

great description of issue

my only consern is the Judge who is very left leaning

if she does her job the case will be dismissed but something inside me says that aint gonna happen

it could very well have to be appealed
