Watt had 5? sacks last year. Granted he was double teamed a lot and the Texans were gutted so it should be better.

That being said, you want to have an, albeit slight, chance to win a SB Arizona, go all in on the pass rush.  The OLs might be the soft underbelly of the very good NFC west. You already have a good pass rush. Wait to see if Clowney gets offers and if he doesn't offer a low salary maybe it works out great. If not Clowney sign/trade for another (Eagles rebuilding, Fletcher Cox?). Use a high pick on a pass rusher or better yet 2 high picks.

You get by w/ hopefully mild improvement from Murray, seperate yourself from the NFC west and what's left is 2 old QBs facing down a front 7 of good pass rushers.

The teams that win SBs w/o great QB play, win SBs w/ a pass rush.

However if they only got him to replace Reddick, that's a more expensive downgrade and lol.

Hasson Reddick is only 26 and just came off a 12.5 sack season. JJ Watt is 32, had 5 sacks last season and the injuries have robbed him of his once upon a time all-time greatness- he's just a shell of his former self. It was a bad singing for a guy looking to win- and it was a bad signing for a team looking to build a winner.

Giving Watt $31 million over 2 years and $23mil guaranteed probably means they won't be re-signing Reddick- who is a free agent. Dumb move by both parties. It was a money grab for JJ and a PR stunt by the Cardinals.

The salary cap system in the NFL is broken.  They were damned if they did, damned if they didn't.

They need to make some sort of QB exception rule with the money they are paying QB's these days.

NFLPA-NFL should have pushed for a max salary. Most gains in the salary cap that the players have gotten over the past decade have gone straight into the pocket of QBs.

Franchise tag is bad for everyone else. However if you are a QB, its better if you if you force the team to franchise you.

I think he's a lot better than any of us realized. Dallas has been a disaster when he's not the starting QB.

Leadership really matters at QB more than any other position on the team. If the QB is THE leader in the locker room and the hardest worker on the team and gets everyone else to buy in and follow his lead- makes a huge difference on the field in wins and losses. Dak has that leadership ability in spades.

Single biggest downfall of a guy like Aaron Rodgers imo- is he is not a leader. When the Packers won the SB in 2010, Rodgers wasn't the guy in the locker room driving the guys. Charles Woodson was the leader of that team.

Dak is a good guy and a good leader

I don't think he'll ever win a SB w/o a helluva running game and a helluva defense

tough to field a helluva defense when paying the QB at that level

99.9% of QB's need a run game and defense to win Super Bowls. Takes a bit of luck to win a Super Bowl as well.

Brady always left money on the table for Belichick to build the defense. And he's reportedly close to re-signing and re-structuring his deal in Tampa so they can free up money to try and keep LB's Shaq Barrett and Lavonte David. Not very many follow his lead, but the truth is if you want to win like he has in the NFL- you HAVE to take less money.
