The penalty I had a problem with was the last one on that drive- where Mathieu got called for a PI in the end-zone- now that was uncatchable- Brady threw that out the back of the end-zone.

I expected the pressure pass rush vs Mahomes with the O-line issues, but I was surprised at Lavonte David's play defending passes vs Kelce.

David is getting old and slow.  Kelce is one of the fastest TEs in the league

Kelce got his catches and over 100 yards, but he was limited.

This might be why the NFL is basically dead to me:
6 teams had a better record than Tampa Bay this year and 4 others had the same record as Tampa Bay (so TB was no better than 10 other teams, by record)
or
a 7-9 team made the playoffs while a 10-6 team stayed home
or
the Bucs got a 3rd shot against the Saints, finally beating them in the playoffs
or
the champs lost 3 of 4 games, but it was fine, because they were 5-3.  As long as people could bet against the spread and Brady helped my fantasy team, whether they won or lost any individual game was largely meaningless.

expanding the playoffs for more teams and more games to make more money is always a good idea

what could go wrong?

I don't know man. Rodgers has made some INSANE throws himself. That one vs the Cowboys kills me every time.

you're smoking something. There is nothing- and I mean literally nothing in sports better than the NFL playoffs.

The regular season is all about playoff seeding- that is all it's ever been about. Home teams usually makes it to the Super Bowl.

Then you have magical wild-card runs where a team just gets hot towards the end of the season and ignites like Green Bay back in 2010 and Tampa just did in 2020.

Damn- can't believe I forgot the greatest example of that ever- they took out the 18-0 would be 19-0 undefeated Patriots. Probably the greatest NFL team ever- and the Giants pulled off the improbable upset.

Most think the best team ever NOT being the champion is good (entertainment).
I just happen to think it's stupid (competition).
.
There's nothing romantic about it - a 9-7 team will beat a 16-0 team X% of the time, and that was one of those times.  The problem is having a 9-7 team being in a position to do so in the first place.
.
Here, you're 1 game over .500, please accept this invitation to the playoffs.  Wow, you "got hot," please accept this invitation to our Super Bowl.
Holy cow!  You won!  Now hoist this trophy and wear this ring as you pretend you're better than the best team ever.
No thanks.

don't forget the 1980 Raiders - SB champs as wildcard

they were 11-5, not terrible
