names change to protect the guilty
Geographic names change all the time.  Dozens of cities changed street names from whatever it was, to Cesar Chavez Street.  Now lots of them are changing back.

Only constant in this world is change.

SETX doesn't.  I'd happily export some of ours to CenTex if I could.

Good news is, right now we're getting it.  Over 4" at my house last night since midnight.  Lots of flash flooding in the area.

If we could get 2 or 3 weeks like that, we'd be in good shape.

Local news here is showing that tropical system to be quite the rainmaker through Saturday, even by you and up to Dallas.

You might be good by the weekend.

That classifies where I live as extreme drought.  Living here in the rain every day, as I do.....I have questions.

You sound like a science-denier.

ATX is in that red triangle right in the middle of the map.  Extreme drought is a mild, friendly way to put it.

Yeah we're supposed to have enough moisture to keep this going for a while.

We'll see.

Any time I see a forecast with rain chances every day for an entire week here in Central Texas, especially in the summer, I can't help but grimace at how naive the meteorologists are.

Yeah, well, your overly dry weather patterns are doubtlessly proof that the earth is flat.

I recall the summer of '07, we had about a week's worth of big rain, and for the rest of the summer, the SM river was way up.  Lake Austin, Travis and LBJ were doing pretty good too.  The last year I lived there we went forever without rain.  Some people I knew had a ranch out near Canyon Lake and every time I drove out there and looked out over it, it dropped lower and lower.  A sad looking lake deep into that summer.  I jokingly called it Canyon Puddle.
