I did a summer program at Northwestern University and stayed in a non-air conditioned dorm.  It sucked.

My FIL in Colorado Springs does not have A/C.  He has some kind of venting system that can circulate air in from outside the house and says it does a great job.  Based on nothing more than that, I'm surprised that 86% of Coloradans have A/C.
