the season's first corn we see here in Indy comes from Georgia.   Saw some this week.   I do know for a fact that Florida grows sweet corn.   not certain where.

What magic do they do in IA and NE that they don't do in FL?  They're all getting fed the same shit.  This is silly.
yeah, reminds me of the canard that only new yorkers know how to make bagels due to the water.    yet when you dine in NYC, they want to serve you sparkling or mineral.  I'm like 'no,  you keep bragging about your water, gimme the tap.'

Bermuda grass tastes like ass compared to hearty fescue.

Ate at the Berghoff Restaurant in Chicago’s Loop last night. I’ve always enjoyed it. It’s not amazing food, but I like the German options—including the German-inspired options. And I like the old-school kitsch.

And this evening, Lou Malnati’s Chicago-style pizza. Good. Not amazing.

We grazed our suburb's uptown last night, because why settle for one place when you can go to four.

Yup.
Go to Frontera Grill for authentic Mexican - or Topolobampo* if you can get in. Go to Twin Anchors for ribs. Go to Hugo's for drinks and snacks. Go get a Beef (dipped, hot peppers) at Al's. Get a burger at Au Cheval. Hit up The Girl and the Goat. Chicago Chophouse.

So many great places to choose from.

Chicago has(d) some great German food, but my old favorites are closed.

Head North to Wisconsin for great German.

Or, come down here. Lots of German descent in this area. One of my favorites:

Sandra's Restaurant
Sandra's Restaurant

I get it with potato pancakes and red cabbage.
