Plenty of beef from FL (9th-most in the US).

There's also a bison herd in north-central FL.  Betcha didn't know that.

I knew about the Bison herd. I've eaten some of it (at The Perfect Caper) as it goes on special at some places around here.

I figured FL was in the top-10 for producing beef. You see a lot of beef in the open areas even close by. I've had that too. It's not very good.

Gimme my Iowa/Nebraska beef and I'm happy.

I don't know that I've seen any corn down here. I'd think that it would be really hard to grow. You could probably plant between September and March, but there is very little rain in that time. Corn takes a ton of water.

I think we're used to beef from cows "finished" in feed lots.  This "grass fed" thing is a gimmick, to me.  Nearly all are still fed grain in feed lots.  Otherwise, the stuff is tough.

We like fat.

Our beef intake these days is much reduced over 20 years back I think, partly because of cost.  We get some really good yellowfin tuna a couple places that work really well seared in cast iron.

Very versatile. We go through quite a bit here.

Sauerkraut, kimchee, cabbage soup, cabbage noodles, stuffed cabbage, etc.

I really like simple steamed cabbage.  

And a memory from my childhood was the annual strawberry festival in either Winter Haven or Mulberry, I forget.  Maybe Bartow.  Anyway, I ate the hell out of all the strawberry shortcakes I could get my hands on.
Strawberry picking is pretty shitty, because the plants are so short, you have to stay bent over, so you know, one for you, one in the bucket - for your troubles.
Blueberries are much easier - at face-level.  Blackberries suck because their short like strawberry plants plus a little bit prickly.

What magic do they do in IA and NE that they don't do in FL?  They're all getting fed the same shit.  This is silly.
