JT23 is the best CFB running back I've ever seen.

Look what happened to Wisconsin since he left after the 2019 season.

The kid covered up a lot of warts. I knew it then, and everyone knows it now.
He did, although the opposite way, quarterback, play wide receiver play also hasn’t been as good and often not close.

But yeah, he was like “what if Melvin Gordon but a bit stronger and more consistent?”

339 carries his FR year, for a 5.7 avg.
AD (not AP) is a good example of what I always harp on about rating players.
Peterson was a MAN at 18/19 years old.  He could have gone straight to the NFL physically.  He came in like gangbusters and ran all over everyone.  He had some injuries.  All of it.  We know, we all saw.

But his stats, while really good, aren't super amazing.  His ability and physical gifts were special, but what he actually DID was merely great, not all-time special.
Conversely, Taylor seems pretty ho-hum compared to Peterson.  But he DID a lot more.  More everything, better per attempt, all of it.

Yet almost no one would rank Taylor over Peterson, outside of Madison.  I don't get it.  It's weird.
I think at this point that’s an NFL thing?

Like, college Peterson had one Taylor-type season, as a freshman. People remember how great looking and played that year, but it’s time goes on. I think those memories will fade, and the whole of his career will be more in focus.

He was a great college running back in a pure college way. Like he was just a college type.

Taylor looked like A great NFL running back playing at that level who was dropped into college.

If they counted bowl games back then, Dayne would still be the leader.
The NCAA does a lot of bizarre, squirrely things, but counting bowl stats in some seasons and not others might be at the top of the list.

It's either incompetence or laziness.  There's literally no reason for it.

Someone 'splain:

Player A (LB)
127 tackles (77 solo), 10.5 TFL, 5 sacks, 1 INT
.
Player B (LB)
128 tackles (63 solo), 11 TFL, 1 sack, 4 INT
.
Player A was all-conference, but not unanimous, no awards
Player B was a unanimous All-American, won the Nagurski, Bednarik, Butkus, and Lombardi Trophies
