Man, I've been doing pedi's for 30+ years. Every time I get one (every 3 weeks) my shoes feel brand new again.
When I lived overseas I got them done frequently. My ex was pressuring me to do it and my initial response was I'm not the kind of guy that goes and does that.. boy was that the wrong mindset.. I do miss the accessibility I had to so many good things like that overseas. There was nothing like the deep tissue massage lady, Bee, that was 4'10" tiny lady that made me almost cry very time but boy did she loosen up my tension spots in my back. As a society, we dont' spend enough time with some self care items like that.

My son called me Monday when trying to pick up his sister after school that his car wouldn't go. He was moving the gear selector but it was moving with zero friction and the car wasn't going into gear.

So I had to go pick the three of them up, get home, and get it figured out. We got it towed to my usual shop yesterday afternoon.

When I picked them up, I looked at it and based on the behavior, thought "It really can't be a complete transmission failure, right? It's the mechanical linkage between the gear selector and the transmission... I hope???" The car isn't probably worth enough to replace the transmission. A google search suggested that this was the correct diagnosis, not a transmission failure. But I was still holding my breath.

Well, the shop confirmed that it was just the cable. It turned a repair that would have cost thousands into costing hundreds, and his mom will have to repay me half the cost, so it's only 1/2 of the actual cost to me personally.

So that's good. It could have been SO much worse.

My 10 a.m. meeting just got canceled, which clears out the only work obligation I had today.  Now I just have to tie up some loose ends, hope nobody drops a wrench on my day, and coast to sweet freedom with 17 straight paid days off.

Actually, it's technically 16 days, but I work from home tomorrow and will likely have very little to do, so I'm counting it.

Two solid weeks off without using a single vacation day makes me happy.

Seems like I remember you don't live in BR, correct?

My oldest called and her nanny shattered her heel and is out for 3 months, and her MIL is a crazy B and can't manage to fill the role.

If'n you were bored or something...

Anyway, I don't think I'd remember what my job was if I had 17 days off.  Enjoy!

SFGopher29 came home last night. I hate the football team, but I really like the University of Minnesota. School has never engaged him like this before. Ski-u-mah, for real.

I don't remember what my job is now when I show up everyday, so there's no real counterpoint.

Kirkland wedges are back in stock! My current set is 4 years old and I thought I was gonna have to bite the bullet on some Vokeys next spring. A new Kirkland set will kick the can down the road a few years.

Nice! My son plays the Kirkland wedges. I would, but I'm an ogre and stock wedges feel like junior clubs in my hands, so I know I'd have to reshaft (& lengthen) and then regrip the Kirklands, kinda defeating the point of the cost savings.

My wedge heads are 4 years old and getting beat up, and the vendor (Sub70 Golf) has started selling clubheads only, when they used to just sell assembled clubs. So I'm thinking about ordering replacement heads and then learning the fun of club assembly to just swap new heads onto the existing shafts. I figure it can't be that hard... A torch, some sandpaper, and some epoxy, and you can swap heads pretty quickly and easily...
