I certainly agree that going to the movies to see the big budget special/practical effect block busters is way better and different experience than watching at home. seeing top gun 2 at the movies- way different experience than watching it at home.

I don't know about you- but to me it feels like CGI in these big budget movies feels like it's actually getting worse instead of better. I was actually having a discussion with someone about the vfx/cgi yesterday- about how to us at least it seemed the cgi is getting worse in big budget movies- which is astounding considering the technology is so much better now than it was 10-15-20 years ago.

I hear a lot of people say this.  I don't know.  To me it looks about like it has, for a while.

Which means it might be more about expectations-- people expect the CGI to look so much better now than 5 years ago or 10 years ago, and when it looks basically the same, they're disappointed.

I definitely agree that using practical effects is superior, when it can realistically be done.  Whether you liked the Star Wars 7-8-9 movies or not, their focus on using practical effects rather than relying entirely on CGI, made them much more visually appealing movies to me than, say, Episodes 1-2-3, or even a lot of the other more recent big budget SFX movies.

I have seen some recent movies with nice CGI and a terrible plot and acting.  I only see them for 10 minutes or so.

Yes yes, we know you don't like movies or TV shows.

One might wonder, then, why you even bother to post on a thread dedicated to subjects you don't care at all about?

Oh, but no need to wonder.  We know.  We all know.

Good Texas girl.  My daughter is close friends with one of her cousins (like, 5th or 6th cousin, but still).
I attended TAMU-K for exactly one semester in 1996. I swear I met her one time in the dorms, but to be honest it’s only a fuzzy memory.

TAMU-Kingsville is her Alma Mater.

I think hot 50 year olds take small measures as they age.  The ones who do a major overhaul thing are grotesque.

And they just have money.  So they can use the $800 facial cream every day instead of the $50 one, having to use it intermittently to make it last.

Plus people are just aging better.

They'd look better with the $50 cream than 99% of the population would look with the $800 cream.

I always find it funny when people talk about pretty actresses/models who hit 50+ and are still completely drop dead gorgeous...

"I wonder what she's doing?"

Nothing. She's doing nothing. She just has better genes than the rest of us. She was hotter than everyone else at 23, why wouldn't she still be hot af at 50+?

This one turned 50 this year.

(And yes, I deliberately chose a smokin' hot Latina for Mdot's enjoyment...)
I mean, a lot of them are doing a whole lot. Which is mostly fine.

I thought we had behaved pretty well on that.  Could somebody ask daddy to restore it.

My vote is no.  It was a cesspool that brought out the worst in some people.  This place has been much more pleasant over the past few days due to its absence.

Area51 is available if you care to go there.
