I had a bit of a heavy hand on the old board, but that's what Scout wanted at the time. They housed us for free after they bought out CFN from Pete.

I agree that posting something unrelated to CFB OVER AND OVER AND OVER is basically meant to offend someone who may not share that opinion.

I do notice it but not that often, and I'm pretty thick skinned.  At times, it may be better to "let it ride" and not react than to generate a stir.

I don't recall thinking you ever did anything heavy handed, but that was a while ago.  Our rule about politics and religion came into being because a few posters had gone off on those tangents over and over and over.  There is a place for political opinion, just not on this part of the site.

Dunno?  If I say I don't believe a chick with a dick is a woman at least once a week, at what point does it get redundant, and begin serving another purpose other than a simple declaration of my belief?

If someone says they don't believe in God in a rude and demeaning way to you, you can't control the fact that they're being a jerk. You can control whether you let it offend you.

I tend to take the Jeffersonian approach here...

You say someone professing a non-belief in God is a thumb in your eye. Those of us who don't believe might respond that being told that God exists and we'll be eternally punished for our non-belief is a thumb in our eye. And sometimes the intent is even to jab a thumb in the others' eye. 

I reject both. I move my eye out of the path of your thumb.

The only offense here that tickles my delicate sensibilities is hypocrisy, and we are there.

Yeah, hypocrisy, I understand your point.  I still wonder if such posts are simply better ignored and buried than responded to.

Ahh, language like "a thumb in the eye" might make me think that you had experienced something painful. 

At times, I have called out OAM for being a dick about religion. At times (as mentioned upthread), I've let political talk slide when I didn't think it likely to escalate. 

As I said upthread, I try not to be heavy-handed. I only tend to try to intervene when I think things are going or likely to go off the rails and might send the board down a bad path. 

If you want to call that hypocrisy, well then you do you.

Pet peeve:

Popular mispronunciations of words that people think are acceptable.

"Nucular."

"Mischievious."

Had many people get irritated about correction and say that it's just a different pronunciation.

No, it isn't. 

You would have to spell "nuclear" completely different to get the word they say.  George W. Bush was the highest profile, most frequent offender I can recall, but it's very common for people to say it that way. 

You would need an entirely added letter and syllable (i) to turn "mischievous" into "mischievious."

I'm sure there are others, but those are two of my major pet peeve ones. 

Yes, it can be, with enough people saying it that way for enough time.  Language is fluid.  
Case in point:  irregardless is now a word that means regardless
It's stupid, but it's now technically correct.  Because the masses over time.
