Annoying. I’m guilty of the occasional needle in someone’s eye, but I agree with MDT JGV.
From my perspective, one of the difficulties on this kind of thing is that when there is a prevailing opinion in a community, that community has a harder time identifying breaches of norms that are consistent with that opinion.
Similarly, when it comes to OAM, specifically, I think he is the subject of ad hominem attacks more than maybe people realize. He (you, as I assume you are reading along, too), also makes such attacks, and, yes, inflammatory remarks on verboten topics around here.
I also agree with BRAD’s take, that the goal here is to keep us a nice, friendly community, which largely has worked since the end of THAT thread.
And we could all stand to pull back on this bs, which doesn’t improve our community. Maybe sometimes that means a cool-off when a poster, regardless of their number of posts or longevity in the board deserves it…just as long as that’s not me. :-)
Let’s keep it cool, people, and not start banning people for trifles, but also not commit so many trifles that they have established a common pattern.
We’re ALL good enough to do that.
