Best time for me to read threads here is in the first hour of work, Mon - Thurs.  A lot of times I don't get much chance to even log on Friday and in the weekend.  Monday mornings things have gotten so far behind that I've got three pages worth of threads to catch up on.  Some Mondays, like today, some of the threads have added multiple pages.

I give up this time, I'm just starting with new posts from now on.

So my pet peeve is not being able to catch up sometimes on an avalanche of posts.  Who knows what dumb things youse guys are saying that needs correcting, and I don't have the time.

Nope. At least assuming you're in CA right now and not traveling somewhere that somehow doesn't follow DST.

We're currently on PDT.

Yup for those states/cities that observe, we're in Daylight Savings Time right now, not Daylight Wastings Time.  Thank goodness.

Ads that prey on the innumerate.

I keep hearing this Tide pods ad on the radio where they are telling some shopper that the bargain laundry detergent is 80% water, which is apparently a waste, because Tide pods are only 11% water.

No mention of cleaning effectiveness. No mention of cost in a $/wash metric. Just it's bad because it's 80% water. I mean, I'm sure the bargain detergent is probably cheaper on a $/wash metric, which of course is why they don't mention it.

What's next, "Don't drink that delicious beer, it's >90% water! This Everclear is much better, because it's only 5% water!"

But the dumb among us will hear that ad and want Tide pods because they just MUST be a much better value. It's going to cost you more every time you wash your clothes, but at least you aren't wasting your money on water!

They have to contrive some kind of notional ad that appeals.  I've been in on some of these efforts.  It's pretty amazing how much goes into creating a tag line for a commercial product.  They do multiple focus groups.

I have not tried Tide Pods, we usually buy Gain liquid at Costco.  When I was in the biz, Gain was the same core stuff as Tide with a different perfume.

We used to make powdered detergent back in the day, with phosphate builders, nothing today can match that product.
