Ads that prey on the innumerate.
I keep hearing this Tide pods ad on the radio where they are telling some shopper that the bargain laundry detergent is 80% water, which is apparently a waste, because Tide pods are only 11% water.
No mention of cleaning effectiveness. No mention of cost in a $/wash metric. Just it's bad because it's 80% water. I mean, I'm sure the bargain detergent is probably cheaper on a $/wash metric, which of course is why they don't mention it.
What's next, "Don't drink that delicious beer, it's >90% water! This Everclear is much better, because it's only 5% water!"
But the dumb among us will hear that ad and want Tide pods because they just MUST be a much better value. It's going to cost you more every time you wash your clothes, but at least you aren't wasting your money on water!
