That's fair.

However, this was not done out of ignorance. There are certain grammatical rules that I find stupid, and choose to violate them. This would be one.
I'm with you on that, and I believe we are smarter than those who make the rules.

So, F them.
Heresy.  You advocate for anarchy!

The PST thing is funny to me. If only because ET and PT are a movie and a way to recover from injuries. like I understand, it’s wrong, but it just communicate it for some reason
Well, in context it doesn't cause confusion to leave the S or D out...

I.e. if I'm scheduling a meeting and I tell someone it's scheduled for June 2, 9:30 AM PT. They know what that means. I don't need to specify it's on daylight time because that's implied when they know the date of the meeting. Nationally, we all (except AZ/HI) make the transition based on the calendar. So you know if it's a January meeting it's standard time, and if it's a June meeting it's daylight savings time.

Ok... So this is stuff that doesn't elevate in your life to the level of "Grumpy Old Man"...

Just the things that you see other people do and you get annoyed. Things on the level of seeing people type "should of" on the internet instead of "should have".

For me...

People who quote times as EST or PST when we're on daylight savings time. They clearly don't know what the "S" means and just do it because they see other people use it. (Note: I rarely see anyone use EDT/PDT incorrectly--anyone who uses those know what the character means.)

Why is it a pet peeve? Because not only is it incorrect, it's unnecessary! You could easily use just ET or PT and not actually reference standard or daylight time. The only states in the US that don't observe DST are Arizona and Hawaii, and I'm sure people in those states are used to the fact that they need to pay attention to this. For the rest of us, we're all on a level playing field.

So it actually takes people more effort to be wrong than to be simple and correct by omitting the character.

How weird....I just learned about that earlier this morning.  I had to sign up for a seminar and it listed CDT time.  I don't think I've used them incorrectly--that I know of--but I realized sometimes I see CST and sometimes CDT, and I wondered what's the difference.  You're right, it's totally unnecessary.

As far as a pet peeve.....people writing/saying "supposably" when they mean "supposedly" comes to mind.  I see/hear that a lot and it irks me.  I think we covered "irregardless" in another thread.

Also, this website is moving really slow since I logged in yesterday for the first time in a week.  Slow, glitchy websites are a pet peeve.  How can I effectively goof off at work if cfb51 is moving slow?  Is that happening for anyone else, or just me?

I like being able to pet dogs in grocery stores and restaurants.  I know most of them aren't really service animals, that's a scam often as not.  I'll see 4-5 dogs at our Kroger and I pet them all, usually pulling off gobs of fur.  My wife is not so much a fan as I.

Same at restaurants.

Bots and bot attacks are probably more of a Grumpy thing for me than a pet peeve.

One of the SAS products I use to implement our projects at work has recently been discovered by spam-bots.  There's a setting that can be tweaked to help that, but it's not universal.  So currently we're having to go through every workflow across campus we've built or have access to, and enable it.
