Coffee grinds somehow blocked the bottom of the brew basket this morning, resulting in an overflowing coffee machine. Grrrr. That made me grumpy.

I've used a French press for years now, though in reality the coffee tastes the same to me.  I use Costco Columbian, which is pretty decent for the money though it has doubled in price in 4 years.

I recall in grad school back in 1884 or so when I'd get into the lab and start up the percolator.  I used some A&P brand called "Bokar", it made decent coffee.  My lunch usually was a baloney sandwich with mustard, nothing else but bread.

When you get old, aside from the obvious, I think one spends too much time thinking back.  I awoke at 4 AM and my brain started firing off on "stuff" so I got up, and made coffee.  No spills.

I've been working on my back muscles and it is sore sore sore.  I go to the gym and then the pool, probably a pretty good regimen in this heat, which has not abated much, though we have not had an official 100°F day, just a lot of high 90s.

I had a grumpy am last week when my mind was firing much of the night, slept like crap and it was the one morning I didn’t have to do much.

The other four, I went to the gym or had an appointment, so there would be value in saying “screw it” and starting early. Instead, it happened the one day where it made sense to try to get some rest back.

Got reviewed for an upgrade in my referee license. Passed, so: yay. Review was by someone I've refereed with before, for whom I don't have a ton of respect, and another person I'm not especially familiar with. Did my best to receive their feedback with an open mind, recognizing it is their job to give such feedback. But one of the comments they emphasized was that I was in a completely wrong place when a goal was scored. I literally said to them, "I'm shocked" that I would have been there. They assured me I was. I said one of the coaches was taking video of the game, I'm going to have to ask him for the video. They said by all means, and were sure it would show they were correct. They were not. I took screen shots of very goal scored (and one that wasn't, but the ball went in the net): I was nowhere near where they said I was. Not remotely. Stuff like that irks me. If you're going to tell me I screwed up that badly, you had better be right. Thank goodness for the video.

Also, they grilled me for half an hour afterward before telling me that I'd passed. What was the point of that? Makes me grumpy. Etc.

Incidentally, I had a different review two weeks ago. The post-game lasted 5 minutes. The guy gave two recommendations for improvement, but said I passed with flying colors.

Listening to Gus makes me grumpy

https://www.si.com/college/nebraska/football/how-to-sync-husker-football-radio-calls-to-the-tv-broadcast-dave-feit?fbclid=IwY2xjawUYwodwZG9mAWV4dG4DYWVtAjExAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR6Dh9037x6SPSvP1s0j_XiNN3ztMXqMzHoSy8M2J8RKd8xyNGw3GjunopCHAg_aem_YxOmjQ0N-bpFucex7YhS4g

Minimum requirements
A TV with access to the network, channel, or streaming service broadcasting the game. If you're watching the game, you already have this.
A mobile device (smartphone or tablet) that is connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or your cellular provider. A laptop will work too, assuming it can connect to the internet.
If you’re using a mobile device, download the Huskers mobile app on that device. The app is free and available on the Apple App Store or Google Play.
The basic steps (using a smartphone or tablet)
Using your TV, turn on the game. Mute the audio on your TV or soundbar. Let the game play in the background.
Using your mobile device, open the Huskers app.
In the Huskers app, find the audio for the Huskers event you want to listen to. This can typically be on the Home page, or by tapping on the Audio tab.
On the app, tap the Play button to start listening to the radio audio.
The audio is typically ahead of the TV. Listen to a few seconds of game action and tap the Pause button on the Huskers app.
Watch your TV. When you see the action you just heard, tap Play, and you'll be ready to go.
If necessary, you can make micro adjustments on the Huskers app by toggling Pause and Play.
The basic steps (using a laptop or desktop computer)
Using your TV, turn on the game. Mute the audio on your TV or soundbar. Let the game play in the background.
On your laptop or computer, open your preferred internet browser and go to www.Huskers.com/listen
The current game or match should appear under the Live tab.
Click the Play button to start listening to the radio audio.
The audio is typically ahead of the TV. Listen to a few seconds of game action and click the Pause button on the Huskers website.
Watch your TV. When you see the action you just heard, click Play, and you'll be ready to go.
If necessary, you can make micro adjustments on the Huskers website, by toggling Pause and Play.
Optional next steps to enhance your experience
Plug in your mobile device or laptop. A college football game can last well over three hours. The last thing you want is to scramble for a power cord in crunch time.
Connect your mobile device to a soundbar or mobile speaker (via Bluetooth or other means). This will make the sound easier to hear and provide better quality. If you're watching the game with multiple people, you'll want to learn how to do this.
Consider using a dedicated device for streaming the audio, such as an older (but still functional) phone or tablet. This will allow you to keep your phone free and should reduce interruptions to the stream.

About every two years, the building pays some "Mexicans" to pressure wash the north side of the building, which is "our side", they are hanging off at the moment spraying away.  My wife stresses out over her plants on the balconies.  I shrug.

I've watched these guys work on the outside, they are quite impressive, to me.  They do a good job, no idea what they get paid.  I don't like heights myself.  The north side gets a bit "moldy" at times, no sun of course.  Does it make me grumpy?  Not really, a bit of noise.  I do idly wonder what chemicals they use.

A guy is on our deck outside my office spraying, I waved at him, he's really doing a great job.  I can't get water except by lugging a watering can, so he's clearing a lot of spiders and leaves and whatnot.  Making a bit of noise, no big deal.

My fantasy camp payments were justed charged to my credit card.  I kinda forgot about that.

I will however be unhappy when I reach the point of no longer being able to go, which I guess is foreseeable.

Allegedly. I did have fun last night when I completed the evaluations necessary for the upgrade. That review, like the first, seemed rather appropriate: direct, specific, and helpful. So now I'm qualified, and once I actually get the system updated, I'm going to let the people who did the one I noted above know what I thought of it--hopefully in a calm, direct, and specific manner so that they might actually learn something. That's the point of assessments, after all.

I used to ref U11-18 rec soccer.  I just took a course.  Some of the other refs didn't seem to grasp some of the rules.  When I was coaching that would irk me.

One ref told me he never called offsides.
