Thanks, Vikings.
yeah, dumbest trade ever. Vikings gave away the farm.

Herschel Walker had just came off a monster 1,500 yard rushing season on a terrible team. Vikings were a playoff team who thought they were one player away. Whoops. Walker wanted to be in Dallas, he didn't want to go to Minnesota. He basically quit on the Vikings once he was there.

Have to give Jimmy Johnson a ton of credit for cashing in on the picks though. Lots of teams could've bungled that package. No doubt in my mind the Detroit Lions would've. Jimmy nailed the freaking draft like no other coach I've ever seen except for maybe Bill Walsh. That dude nailed draft picks too. Not a coincidence that one guy had the dynasty of the 80s and the other guy had the dynasty of the 90s.

You don't have to convince me, I'm a huge fan of Emmitt Smith.

But I was talking more about individual accolades at the pro level.  Emmitt, Michael, and Troy were easy HOF selections.  The linemen get talked about a lot, but only LArry Allen has been inducted to the HOF.  If that o-line was so otherworldly-good that it's the main reason Emmitt and Troy were successful-- as a lot of folks like to imply-- then I'd expect more of them to be in there...
Well having a great O-line certainly doesn't hurt. I agree 100% that Emmitt, Michael, and Troy were no-brainer HOF selections. They are all elite talents and were at the very top of the league at their positions during their era. I mean who was better than Emmitt? Barry Sanders. That's it. Who was better than Michael? Jerry Rice. That's it. They were both literally better than every other player in the league at their position except one.

Larry Allen wasn't just a HOF player- that dude is the single greatest interior linemen that's ever played football if you ask me. Dominant isn't even the right word. More like freaking terrifying. Erik Williams would've been a HOF'er if not for that horrific car accident which mangled his body. He was never quite the same guy after that. He was still an All-Pro and Pro-Bowl selection after that accident- but he was on track/pace to be maybe the best RT ever and certainly the best of that era before that accident. Still remember him owning Reggie White in the playoffs in '92. Who does that? Oh yeah, no one. He's got a borderline HOF case imo. Nate Newton was named to 6 Pro Bowls and 2 All-Pros and Stepnowski was named to 5 Pro Bowls and 3 All-Pros. They were a hell of a unit.

Everyone shits on the Lions' OL, but they had 2 multiple-Pro Bowlers in C Rich Glover and T Lomas Brown.
yeah, their OL sucked. And their QB's sucked even worse.

You mean Kevin Glover. He was a great center, but one guy does not make an OL. Lomas Brown was a top tier pass blocker, but he was kinda meh as a run blocker. And that's two guys. The other 3 guys on their line stunk for 90% of Barry's career. They also never utilized TE's or FB's. The first year they gave Barry Sanders a fullback he ran for 2,053 yards. And the Lions QB's were god awful.

If that Lions team had a real-life QB and an OL it would've been something to behold because Barry Sanders was like a freaking cheat code and their collection of WR's were actually really good. Herman Moore, Brett Perriman, and Johnnie Morton were a nice crew.

Jolly Rogers 0-4 vs Niners in the P.O.s
he also just lost a home playoff game. again.

For as talented as he is, he doesn't do a lot of winning in the post-season. The Packers had a top tier rushing attack and defense this year. There really is no excuse for that L they just took at home to a pretty pedestrian 10-7 49ers team that needed to win their last game of the season to even make the playoffs. He's now 7-9 in the post-season since winning his one Super Bowl 11 seasons ago. And this is despite having #1 seeds and home-field throughout in 5 of those 11 seasons- they were 15-1, 13-3, 13-3, 12-4, 13-4 - and #1 seeds and bounced out of the playoffs at home each time. Crazy.

Sanders was great, obviously.  The fact that he had idiotic coaching stinks.

It's just weird that a guy who had the most carries by far, the most rushing yards by far, and the most TDs by far is treated like Rodney Dangerfield.  What could Emmitt have done to get more respect?  20,000 yards?  200 TDs?  I mean fuck.

Many probably don't know this, but he had the 2nd most rushing yards in high school.  Ever.

I can't help but feel like if he had the same EXACT career in the NFL, but ran a 4.4 second 40, people would think more highly of him.  And that's stupid.

Legendary draft master. Got Bradshaw on a coin flip with Halas. Halas then traded the pick to the Fackers.

well, he's a douche so..

we all know special teams lost the game, Rogers didn't play terribly, but yes he did.  He did VERY little after the opening drive and nothing in the 2nd half

gotta put up more than 10 points at home, especially if you know your special teams SUCK.  Finish the drive, go for it on 4th down.  The 9ers had the balls.

May be an image of 2 people, people playing football and text that says 'Imagine having two of the greatest QBs of all-time for 30 straight years and only having 2 Super Bowls to show for it... SRddell PACKERS 100 SEASONS 12 4'

Aaron Rodgers = Dan Marino. Stat sheet filler in the regular season, playoff choke artist.

I guess this isn't the first time this year that we all thought Aaron Rodgers had a shot. Or two.

As for the coaches, all you need to know about them is that on the game-winning FG attempt, the Packers only had 10 men out there.
