I guess songwriters grow on trees.
In defending against something you weren't being criticized about, you made a dummy.
yeah that was just a stupid take.

listen to early 2000s Eminem for 20 mins where he was spitting words at rapid fire and making every single damn word rhyme together and having it make sense and tell a story. that takes serious talent and skill.

The song that Nas famously said to Jay-Z that "Eminem murdered you on your own shit".....

spitting words at rapid fire can be cornsidered a talent

some older folks just don't appreciate the effort or think of it as music

yes, there's a message there

punk groups had a message, the Bangles had a message,

it's personal preference - doesn't mean anyone is a racist or boorish

just read that Dr. Dre put up $7 million of his own money to put the half-time show on. He's purported to be worth over $800 million- and this is after he gave his ex-wife $100 million in a divorce settlement.

Whatever he's actually worth- he made a shitload of money when he and his partners sold Beats Electronics to Apple in 2014 for $3.2 billion in a cash + stock deal. I still think it's beyond hilarious that Apple had nearly $300 billion in cash and has probably the most valuable stock on the entire stock market- meaning they could acquire virtually almost any company in the entire world- and the largest acquisition that Apple has made under Tim Cook was to buy an incredibly over-priced shitty headphone brand that they overpaid for. Tim Cook as Steve Jobs rightfully pointed out- "is not a product person."

Apple isn't innovating jack anymore and Tim Cook lacks vision. Apple could've scooped up Netflix and Tesla with ease back in 2014 and still had close to two hundred billion in cash left over. Instead they bought a f**king shitty headphone brand for $3.2 billion. Apple should've snatched up Netflix and Tesla in 2014, then fired Tim Cook and made Elon Musk the CEO of the company.

I'm fine with Apple stumble-bumbling their way into a mere $340M/day of profit, no need for them to be any stronger than they already are.

Dr. Dre is cool.  I'd have enjoyed a halftime show of nothing but him, better than the one that actually occurred.

Better yet, have Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and Eazy-E all get out there at the same time.  Seems like a grouping of those guys might be pretty good...

My step son works for Apple.  He thinks they are still innovating, but he won't talk about what his group is doing.  He showed me a photo of him and Wozniak over Christmas.

They are my largest individual stock holding by a good measure.  I had been selling some to keep some semblance of balance and finally figured I'd just keep it all as it kept going up, I should have not sold, but I was trying to diversify.

Microsoft is doing remarkably well these days, it's a bit of a surprise to me.

Ha. True. It's pretty obvious to me though that Apple is not really innovating however. Seems to be just continuations and slight improvements of already wildly popular products. Their money makers are obviously the iPhone and iPads - which have insane margins and are insanely popular. Their biggest hit since Jobs died has been wireless headphones. What innovation! The watch was a huge flop at first, but has come around in the last few years to become a huge success for them.

I agree, I love Dr. Dre. That'd be super cool to see NWA all together, but Eazy-E is dead however.  As much as I like NWA Dre, to me he was at his best as Death Row Dre with Snoop and 2Pac.

Great stock to own, they freaking print money. I'm not sure they are really innovating anymore. If they are- not really seeing it- and I am one of the idiots who always buys a lot of their overpriced products.

Microsoft is killing it in large part because of their Azure cloud infrastructure service, which is the 2nd largest in the world behind Amazon's AWS. Microsoft is also killing it with that Surface- probably the best product they've ever made.

I think Microsoft is going to make huge strides in gaming with their Game Pass thing. They are buying up all these game studios in order to build a moat around a "Netflix of gaming" that Sony is way behind on them- maybe years- and Nintendo isn't really interested in. That game pass is like $15 a month and with it you can download or flat out stream all kinds of old and new games for PC/Xbox that cost $60-$70 individually. Has a potential to be a real game changer for them- and they just bought Activision for $70 billion - maker of wildly popular Call of Duty games.

I liked NWA.  I also liked Public Enemy and Run DMC and LL CoolJ and Ice T and some others from the 80s.

I'd pretty much moved on from rap by the time Snoop and all those other newbz got popular.

Heh.  Microsoft doesn't make the Surface.  For a while, we made it for them.  The margins are negative so we stopped doing that and someone else picked up the contract.  Now their margins for all those units are negative, while we've moved on to business that's actually profitable.

But it's a gateway device for Microsoft, they really don't need to make any money on the hardware.
