I admittedly don’t have a great sense of what the actual standards for Michelin star are, but I do believe we should elevate our finest barbecue into the same echelon as the rest of our finest food.

I also need to figure out something related to barbecue for my holiday trip home to California. There’s a restaurant that got a Texas approved rating as some of the best Texas style barbecue outside of Texas. But I’m not sure how their hours clash with the holiday.
If someone else is willing to provide the financial backing, I will gladly be in charge of certifying BBQ

This is a curiosity, does anyone know offhand what The root of the Catholic anti-vaccine thing is. I’ve seen it cited as something that exists, but I haven’t totally seen the scripture backing for it.

I get the idea in your first sentence.  Why would we not revere BBQ as much as other foods, when it's just as tasty (or, even tastier)?  For me I guess it's just that the roots of BBQ are in cheap food for the poor, which seems opposed to the ideals of a Michelin starred restaurant.  But hey, I'm glad the form is getting its recognition.  It's certainly worthy of that.

I don't know any current BBQ places in Cali, but as I've (reluctantly ;)) admitted before, I've had excellent Texas-style BBQ in the Bay Area before.  I wish I remembered the name of the place, it was somewhere in or near Menlo Park/Palo Alto.  I wasn't driving, and it's been well over ten years now.

All this talk about RFK's other things that might not be so bad is sanewashing. It doesn't change the fact that he's pro-polio, pro-measles, and pro-whooping cough. Hard pass.

For that matter, none of the first-day nominees deserve to be on the White House grounds without a ticket.

Doug Bergum at Interior is the only one so far that might be kinda sorta maybe qualified.

Franklin should have gotten one over LaBBQ or Corkscrew but they're all very good.

The idea of Michelin-starred BBQ seems silly to me, but here we are.
I've always said that if you are looking for great bbq and when you show up the place has a Maitre d', you are in the wrong place.

10 RFK Jr. conspiracy theories and false claims, in his own words - The Washington Post

Yes, this is WashPo, but it is correct on the silly uninformed claims he has made in the past no matter how much folks whitewash his statements.

I view him as a complete moron and kook with bizarre views about health in general completely unsupported by any clinical data or review of actual science.  I do not want him remotely near any government job relating to health care.
Paywall, I can't read it.

Lewis Grizzard said to look for a Cadillac and a pickup truck in the parking lot and a wood burning pit in the back (or side).

LoL.

I've been trying to convince my wife that I'll take here to London, Paris, and Rome over Spring Break . . .

London, Kentucky; Paris, Tennessee; and Rome, Georgia on the way to Florida.

I think Rio Grande is the home of Bob Evans.

There is a Paris, Kentucky, there isn't much there, I took my wife once.  It is in Bourbon County where there are no distilleries.

I don't really want this, but at the same time, I do kinda want to hear the explanation:

What is TDS [Trump Derangement Syndrome]? (See, I know what it stands for, but I have no idea how to apply it.)

As I understand it, the general concept is: they guy says a lot of stuff just to rile people up; he doesn't really mean it; or maybe he says a lot of stuff off the cuff, so don't take it too seriously.

If I've got that right, how are we supposed to tell what to believe and what not to believe? Do we just ask a Trumper? That would be like asking a Biden sychophant to explain why Biden didn't really mean what he said (and that he's not going senile).

So what's the test for TDS?

Because I'm not going to lie to you: telling Congress it should recess so that he doesn't have to get his cabinet appointees confirmed, nominating Gaetz and Kennedy for AG and HHS, respectively, and putting Stephen Miller in the White House (just to name the most outlandish appointments so far) doesn't seem like he's just shooting from the hip with stuff he doesn't really mean. It sort of seems like it's exactly what he was saying he was going to do--that people keep accusing his opponents of suffering from TDS for pointing out.
