IMHO he's not that deep of a strategist/tactician. He really wants these sycophants and yes-men in his cabinet.

It's a purity test. Is the House/Senate GOP fully in lock-step with MAGA? Or does the old guard have the balls to vote no on his nominees, and chicanery to keep them out, and we get a steady parade of "acting" secretaries? That's how it went last time for his Cabinet posts a few years in. Everyone was an acting secretary save Bill Barr.

Nominating RFK Jr for HHS is proof of this.

The bar is low.  Current Biden appointees- mostly based on “ the first this or first that” has been in unmitigated disaster. 

It cracks me up.  Elections have consequences- remember ( Obama).  Oh.. but he is picking people who he thinks are loyal.  Well yeah.  That’s what most Presidents do.  This was a “change” election.  Trump ran on doing certain things.  Of course he is going to try to pick people who will try to help him do those things. 

He has apparently learned some things.  Last time around he left a ton of Obama appointees in place, and they worked hard to leave land mines for him.  I am no fan of the Gaetz pick, but the rest are exciting.  Let’s give some new people with fresh ideas an opportunity.

Nobody from the cabinet.  Hundreds of higher and mid-level federal staff. 
 
And especially yes- RFK over the current disaster.
