My lasting conclusion as well. In just the past week:

1) A guest on Joe Scarborough warned me that a Trump win would result in a "presidency of retribution" where he will "literally shoot his detractors in the streets" and "use the military against us."

2) Someone on both the View and MSCNBC (maybe Maddow?) said that a Trump win would "mean the last election America ever has" before becoming a singular dictatorship.

To me, hysterics like these sabotaged rational reasons for voting against Trump.
Obviously the BS rhetoric about Hitler, Facism, dictator- was a losing strategy big time.  People ( including most people saying that) don’t believe it.
it worked against them.

This was a “ market correction” which our nation seems to be good at.  It needed to happen.  And the MSM needs to figure out- they are not trusted or believed.
Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.

Now now.....the Dems are all saying this morning that Trump needs to get back to unity.

(After endless lawfare, 2 impeachments, literally Hitler, facist, end of democracy, attempting to bankrupt, and 2 assassination attempts)

Kumbaya, LOL.

In the last month, he nearly fell off a truck, struggled to open the door of that truck, seem to forget what state he was in or Who he was supposed to be talking about and made his staff set something up where he could play McDonald’s.

Maybe a Democrat could do all that and republicans would say he is just peachy, but I’m pretty doubtful.
To be fair, I would have trouble with that truck too. I'm 57.

As for what state, well, he was in at least two every day, for a year. I might (seem to?) forget too. I'm 57.

He loves McDonald's, that's for sure.

Trump wins, defeating Kamala Harris in rejection of Democrats' far-left flank (msnbc.com)
Trump wins, defeating Kamala Harris in rejection of Democrats' far-left flank (msnbc.com)

This is a reasonable analysis from one liberal on MSNBC, but I think he overlooks the inflation factor.

We can expect interminable analyses from here of course, many of which will be wrong.

Brandon walked right past doors the Secret Service pointed to and shuffled off into the lawn at Camp David in 2021.That's not a frailty, where were your objections?
They both are frail and doddering or they aren’t. And that’s disqualifying or isn’t. That’s all I’m saying.

So funny.  He knows where Ukraine is and what “ The cloud is”. He knows what he would do different than Biden, and is able to tell you if he favored the proposition in California to make shoplifting illegal again.

Any case, he is my president. Now, I look forward to everything good that he can do for me as a modestly left-leaning person.

I think he's been pretty clear on his intentions.  Whether or not he's successful, or can even possibly have a chance at being successful, remains to be seen.  But it's clear he wants to put stronger controls on illegal immigration, he wants to influence the end of wars in Ukraine and Israel/Palestine, and he wants a "better economy" whatever that might mean.  And I also expect him to attempt to continue some of his policy from the first term, like being stronger on incenting/forcing further decoupling of American manufacturing from Chinese state-controlled firms.

All of that is a pretty focused platform, whether you agree with the intent or not.  And again, I'm not sure how successful he'll be at any of it, but that's where I expect him to try to go with this next presidency.
My fellow Texan said it better than I could.

I’ve seen some news today that Kamala did not get as many votes as Biden did in ‘20. I’ve heard that Biden got 81 million, and Kamala got far fewer. Maybe only 60 million.

It does not compute with me that that many people voted for Joe 4 years ago, but chose Trump 4 years later.

This really makes me question all the claims of election fraud etc.

Turnout was down versus 2020 when COVID meant a lot of rule changes to enable absentee voting.

Trump won't get as many votes as Biden did.

I have a great many thoughts, most of which are probably wrong, and are driven primarily by my animal brain. But this is my overriding thought:

It's the economy, stupid.

But it's not economic indicators, it's how people feel about their household economy. 9% inflation hit everyone and it hurt. And while inflation is under control now, and there are reasonable arguments about what caused inflation and by how much, short of deflation--which we haven't had (and don't really want as a matter of economics), prices have not "recovered" (or gone back to "normal") after that 9% inflation subsided. Every one of us feels that in our pocket book every day.

So Trump inherits a historically good economy, but not a people feeling good about their household economics.
