I suppose I would do is reduce the influence of government in the matter.
Excellent idea.  Sounds like we agree.  I'd love to reduce the influence of government in pretty much ALL matters.

A couple years ago we went to see Train in concert, with Blues Traveler and Jewel as openers. Jewel, who I was kinda interested to see just as a weird 90s nostalgia throwback, was a mess, so we went looking for concessions.

Uh...isn't every band you just listed a 90's throwback?  Why is jewel the weird one?  If anything, her fame got even bigger after her family had that Alaskan TV reality show.

Well yeah, although Train continued making new stuff.

Maybe I wasn't as clear... I really wanted to see both Train and Blues Traveler. They were the reason I bought the tickets. Jewel wasn't a factor in wanting to see the show. And frankly if she'd been the first opener I wouldn't have been sad to show up a little late and miss her set.

But given that she was in between the two bands I actually wanted to see, I thought it was going to at least be interesting to see her just as a curiosity...

I never really followed Train or BT after their peak.  I know Jewel kinda faded out by the late 90's.  Wouldn't call her a one hit wonder, but I don't recall anything she did this century being much of a hit.  I think she married a big successful rodeo cowboy and kinda disappeared, but got divorced and tried to come back but the times passed her by.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Elon Musk, a tech mogul who is the world’s richest person, plunged more than $70 million into helping Donald Trump and other Republicans win in November’s election, making him one of the biggest donors to GOP causes this campaign season, according to campaign finance disclosures released this week.

Musk made the donation over the summer to America PAC, a super political action committee he launched in May to aid Trump in his bid to return to the White House. It quickly became a central player in Trump’s election effort.

“The America PAC is just aiming for common sense, centrist values,” the Space X and Tesla founder said Tuesday on his social media platform X, shortly after the sum of money he contributed was made public in a campaign finance filing.

Super PACs like Musk’s America PAC can raise and spend unlimited sums of money but are typically are forbidden from coordinating their efforts with the candidates they support. A recent opinion by the Federal Election Commission, which regulates federal political campaigns, allowed for candidates and these big-spending groups to work together on so-called ground game efforts, which are the armies of people deployed to knock on doors to help turn out the vote.

Our entire music department (band, choir, orchestra) did a long weekend at Interlochen, which is an elite music camp in northern Michigan.  I was there in 1999.  Jewel apparently went there all the time as a child, and if an alien landed on Earth in northern Michigan, they would have thought the Beatles both formed and wrote/recorded Sgt. Pepper at that camp based on how hard they leaned into a girl who had like 4 pop hits.  her picture was EVERYWHERE

Israel’s plan to respond to this month’s Iranian attack is ready, a source told CNN — and US officials expect it to happen before the US presidential election, which is in less than three weeks. Israeli officials have assured the US that the counterstrike would be limited to military targets rather than oil or nuclear facilities, according to a source.

Back when SFIrish was regularly performing in live music venues, we were at a bar one night for a songwriting competition and we heard a special guest was coming on a few minutes afterward. So we stuck around. It was Train, who performed a 90-minute set at the height of their popularity following their Drops of Jupiter tour. They are a local SF act (Petaluma, actually), and we were in Marin, so very close to their real homes. It was in a venue that fits about 150, standing room only. Very cool show. Train's never been my favorite, but that was a pretty sweet live music moment.

I'm not staunch on the topic, other than 3rd trimester abortions.  You either want the baby, or don't -- seems to me that could be figured out within the first 60 days.

However, I do have a bone of contention for the "make it easier" crowd.  Oh the horror, I may have to drive 2-3 hours to have a potential life-altering procedure performed.  Good Lord.  It's harder, and much farther way, for 99.9% of Americans to take their kids to Disney World.  Cry me a river.

Do what you will, but don't complain that it's not made super convenient for you.
Some women would have to drive 2-3 states away, not 2-3 hours.  2-3 hours would be my idea of county-by-county.

Life isn't fair.  Whaddaya gonna do?

Where there's a will, there's a way.
Sigh.

At times, the female involved is not ... agreeing to it, of course.

At one extreme, we have some folks saying "It should be between the woman and her doctor", e.g., NO limits of any kind relating to gestational state.

I think this insults doctors.
