I was crap at dating when I was young, which meant I avoided landing an ex-wife. 

At the time, it bothered me. In retrospect, coulda been worse.

My two cents on Bwarb’s situation is it sounds like making a mountain out of a mole hill.  I don’t know the history but telling your ex you are coming over to hang out seems pretty mundane information to be passing along.


On a different note for all you guys with ex-wives how do you think they describe you? Are you the crazy ex in their stories?

My ex showed up, the last time I saw her, to warn me that the Russians were about to invade the US and I should take precautions.  She went on at some length about it, and was obviously serious.  I just listened patiently.  She finally left.  This was about 2013 or so.

I ended up doing every chore to be done around the house, with three small kids, everything, including yard work.  It was exhausting, and my work load went down when she moved out because I no longer had her messes to clean up.  She came home drunk one night and collapsed on the couch and threw up and left the mess on the floor, and then claimed the next day it wasn't her mess.  That was very near the end obviously.

She just didn't want kids, three kids into the deal.

mine wasn't REAL crazy, just didn't want kids, 2 kids into the deal

and similarly, I did all the chores, cleaning all her messes

We got married too young, and we simply grew up, and apart. Thankfully, no kids and I've not seen her since (1993).

Oh, I'm certain she describes me as an asshole. 

Partly because I've had to be one; she has tried to take advantage of my good nature several times since the divorce so I have that wall up constantly. 

It's been much more pleasant the last year or two when she finally realized that when she pushes, I'll push back, and harder.

Well, I was lucky I guess. Tomorrow is my 18th wedding anniversary.  I married over my head. She is way better looking than I am, way smarter, and makes more money than I do.

Luckily, I’m terrific in bed.

I think luck is part of it.  I was finishing up grad school and she was finishing undergrad, and "what was next" seemed to be "marry whoever you are with at the time".

And I was a month from being 26 when we married, so it wasn't doing it too soon.
