Here is on projection on the mix by 2050:

You can see it would be 2045 before renewables EQUALS NG, not replaces.  These can be wrong of course, but any realistical view of our energy situations shows the magnitude of the problem seriously out running the lofty notions of politicos.

And fusion increasingly is looking  further distant.

Nevada, outside of Clarke County, should just be one giant solar panel.

At a time when many want more wind and solar, it's useful to note that an additional demand due to EVs recharging will make that even more of a challenge.  The rate of increase over time has been significant, up to 2007.  We increased from 3,000 to 3,700 from 1990 to 200, so large increased are possible, but of course that was significantly using coal.

It will be tough to keep up if our new sources are limited to wind and solar.  Tough as in mathematically impossible.
Does this only include commercial sources, or does it also include the output of residential solar?

I don't know if the economics works out yet (and haven't looked into it strongly b/c I rent), but residential solar coupled with home battery backup has the potential to be a game-changer here.

Let the sun charge your batteries during the day while you're out. When you get home, power the house (and your EV needing recharging) off the stored battery energy. Only use the grid intermittently.

Residential solar today is a blip, not significant, that could change.  The charts are on the grid.

Roughly 100 miles needs 30 KwHrs of electricity.  That could improve some, but we're probably near max on it.

The math problem on "wind and solar" is really eye opening, I think.  If in time rooftop solar became say 50% of houses, we might have something IFF the system had capacity to run AC and else while also charging batteries.

With installation, an average residential 5kW size system costs between $3 and $5 per watt, according to the CSE, which results in the $15,000 to $25,000 range. That cost is before any tax credits and incentives. If you know your current energy usage, you can calculate how much you'll need to pay for solar panels.

Midtown is coming back to life from pandemic slow-downs - Atlanta Business Chronicle (bizjournals.com)

Maybe.  What do you see as long term impacts of the COVID pandemic in your area?

Can't even see our condo building in this shot.  That is Grant Field in the foreground.

That was pretty good, very talented youngsters. And the guitar player even looks a little bit like Jimmy Page.

22 Atlanta-Area Barbecue Restaurants to Know (eater.com)

Fat Matt's is very near us and they have a nice music scene (preCOVID) and it stays crowded.  Their pulled pork is meh.

Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q

1238 Dekalb Ave NE
Atlanta, GA(404) 577-4030Visit Website

Jonathan and Justin Fox don’t mess around. Their Texas-style barbecue joint is famous for bringing Frito pie to the Southeast, but their brilliance shines in the Tominator, a base of tater tots covered in Brunswick stew and smothered in melted cheese. For those living and working north of Midtown, check out their Bar-B-Que que-osk housed in a converted shipping container on Ottley Drive Monday - Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The brothers open a second location of their popular barbecue restaurant next year at the Works next to Andrew Zimmern’s food hall off of Chattahoochee Avenue.
