Water from lake travis it is with stringy longhorn and hot peppers.The hotter the better so you don't actually have to taste the stuff

Yup that's pretty much it.

It's the blend of dried chile peppers that create the character and depth of flavor, and it's the addition of fresh jalapenos and/or serranos, and cayenne powder, that lends the heat.

They also took beans on those cattle dives haven't you ever watched Blazing Saddles.No seriously they did - easy to transport and cook.As did the pioneers crossing the continent.The weak ones stopped in Iowa/Nebraska.The smart ones stayed in Ohio

Yeah beans were made alongside the chili.  Not in the chili.

What juice?there's nothing to soak the beans with remember - let 94 tell the story and stay outta the Bud Fat.And not only that they had to water the "Doggies" somewhere.
