I have practical problems with Vettes of course, some obvious ones, and also the memory of how many tires we blew out on the Caddy (which had 19" rims and 35 profile run flats).  That was a major consideration in trading that vehicle.  The second issue is knowing I can't really drive it on a public road.  It hits 60 mph in 2.8 seconds, which is kinda fun of course, but not for long.  It looks pretty cool, but then, I do naturally anyway.

The car I'd buy if I were to buy one would be a B<W 240i convertible.

well, the Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 isn't a run flat

and you admit you don't drive your current car at it's limits

who cares if the limits are a bit greater and you don't get there?

The last 3 on a tree transmission available in the US as a new car, 1979 Chevy Nova.

How many here have driven one, a car or truck with 3-on-the-tree?
I have driven those. Many of them.

Now I have two vehicles that have 7 on the tree.

I have have nightmares to this day about those,my brothers also.My dad loved manual tranny's as he grew up in the day,he was also frugal, not cheap but had to watch the Ps/Qs with 5 kids.He also wasn't very good at driving - think Mr Magoo for those that get that.Any way my dad got a deal from guy at Chevy(where he worked) in the early 70s on a 6 cyldr,4dr Chevelle with a 3 on the tree in gawd awful ugly pea green.it was used but he bounced around in it for 6yrs and sold it to a neighbor who got another 3-4 yrs out of it.So imagine a cranky stout, gruff guy like Mel from Mel's Diner in the sit com Alice behind the wheel.Anyway my dad smoked a pipe(tobacco) in one hand he'd have his pipe and in the other the tobacco pouch. He would load his pipe in his lap as he made a left with his elbows on the wheel as he as he tapped the lever downshifting with his elbow - shear-terror."Dad watch it we're going to hit that car/sign/person/ditch as he's swearing enough to make Patton blush and blaming a near would be victim. And yelling at me "Shadd Up!!! what the hell's wrong with you".I never told him after that when I had dental appointments.I'd walk over two miles in the elements. When the family went out we felt bad that mom was in the front seat. And no one ever screamed "shotgun"

Kroger had flat iron steaks on sale so I picked up two of them.  I would just about prefer this to any other cut at any price, just about.  Seriously.
Alton brown cooked them right on the coals.I was slobbering like a St Bernard

Nope. Oldest car I've "owned" was the 1985 1/2 Ford Escort with 4 on the floor. Have had multiple manuals since, but all have been on the floor.

Except, of course, for the 1 down 5 up vehicle I had... Which I reversed to the "GP" shift pattern of 1 up 5 down.

We had a couple of Chevy farm trucks with 3 on the tree. That is what I learned to drive in.
