Like it would be large if it was my net worth, but Columbus is a pretty big city. If one in 45 people in the city is a migrant/refugee/asylum seeker, that's 20,000 total people, not a terribly large group. If you take that $6.6 million across even a group that size (which might be more, might be less), it's about $110 per person per year. So in the scheme of all that not a terribly large spend.

I get three times that much in lunch subsidies because I go into the office regularly at work.

That’s a good perspective on the cost per. I didn’t really think of it that way. That being said, I’m old school where I think every little bit of the budget for people illegally here leads to our deficit issues. 6.6 million in Columbus and how many millions everywhere else? And the expense doesn’t stop there. It weighs on the medical system and other parts of the budget. We excuse it by saying it’s actually a small number. Consumers do the same when they spend on things they don’t need as well. Ahh, I’ll just put $1,000 on my credit card and it’s not big deal compared to the 70k income. Five years later they suddenly have 25k in credit car debt or a 37 trillion dollar deficit.

lastly, diminishing 20,000 illegals/undocuments or whatever we call them is scary. It’s one city in the Midwest nowhere near the borders. When did 20,000 illegals become an insignificant number? We can talk about percentage of the population and whatnot, but the biggest flaw so many in society have is bending on principles one inch at a time and then over time they wonder how did I get so far from my desired location. Health. Finances. Relationships.

I’m pretty sure not every refugee/migrant/asylum seeker is a “illegal.”

In a larger sense, it points two a reality of what is sometimes a little pointless feeling about these discussions. Many people looking for a reason to be scared of people like their own grandparents or people who settled wonderful places like the Midwest. The fearful American is more and more our national personality.
