The smoke alarm saga (cont.):

So, yesterday it starts beeping again.  My wife finds 2 9V bats that are both corroded as heck.  So, I'm off to CVS to buy a 4 pack ($23).  Replace the battery again (I figured the one I used was dead also).  Fine, but the bat door won't close, whatever.

This morning around 0400 it starts beeping again.
about 2015 I bought a Kidde smoke and carbon monoxide detector with 10 yr sealed cell batteries. Well after one year the 1st one crapped out so i broke out the other one and almost the same amount of time it went south also. Didn't have the package or receipt as i didn't expect. I hope to God somewhere there is an evil gnome pissing in their cherios. And at the time I bought them the 2 pk was 35 bucks - no excuse for crap like that

Here in CA the houses are small enough that one single smoke detector will alert everyone in the house (and probably half the neighbors) without a problem.
Like mine much easier to clean though. And my alarms died after a 2 yrs but I have 2 parrots and I;m very careful

This is starting to become alarming.

Russia Threatens to Blow Up ICC With Hypersonic Missile (msn.com)
Lol. Just media BS. How is it any more alarming than the US govt passing the Hague Invasion Act into law or US govt placing sanctions on ICC investigators who were discussing the possibility of investigating Americans for war crimes in Afghanistan.

Russia does not recognize the ICC as legitimate. Neither does the US. Neither country is a party to the ICC treaty. The ICC is a giant circle jerk nothing-berger fkn joke of twats in the Netherlands. Russia doesn't need to blow it up or threaten to blow it up. ICC has no power or jurisdiction over jacksh*t. Their little arrest warrant of Putin is a dog and pony show to distract from the fact that Ukraine is getting slaughtered in this proxy war despite the US govt best efforts to throw an endless amount of money and intel Ukraine's way.

When is the last time you've seen either of these two hacks in DC?

They are together today, in Moscow.
I wouldn't say they are hacks. I'd say they are more or less effective dictators of their respective countries.

Speaking of DC, you want to see hacks, there are plenty of those there- starting with our dear leader- Sleepy Joe. The only bigger hack leader in the west might be Canada's leader Justine.

I think Xi wants to be a player, they recently broker some deal between the Saudia and Persians.  He may think he can stop the fighting in Ukraine, a thing Putin likely would welcome.
China definitely wants to be THE worlds super power. It's a stated goal of that country. Brokering a deal between the Saudis (our biggest ally in the mideast) and Iran (our biggest enemy in the mideast) was most definitely a huge deal and left egg on the face of 'Merica on the worlds stage.

If China was able to bring about the end of the war in Ukraine- a proxy war of the US- which the US has kept going to the tune of $100+ billion (in a single fkn year btw) in aid to Ukraine plus all kinds of intel & strategtic planning & military training- yeah- would be a bad look for the US and just be more hits and damage to this country on the worlds stage.

China has leverage over both countries. Russia needs a customer for their energy and they want Chinese weapons systems. Ukraine does not want China to give Russia weapons. Obviously. They might be able to help bring about an end to this awful war. Someone has to step up and try and do it. It clearly won't be the US, so I don't care if it's China.

Lulz.
sorry, guess I don't see the destruction of an entire country and the US engaging in a proxy war to "bleed Russia dry" (Hilary Clinton's words on MSNBC, not mine) as lulz. to each his own though.

Hillary Clinton doesn't speak for me, or for the US, or anyone else of consequence.  You can choose to listen to her blatherings and get all worked up over them if you like.

she is the ultimate insider, a living breathing embodiment of the establishment of DC which dictates policy and runs this country. her mindset is the same mindset of the people in this current administration- many of the same people she worked with in the Obama administration and many of the same people who worked for her husband in his administration. it's obvious to anyone with a brain what the US end game is. US wants to bleed Russia out and they want to push them out of Europe, they do not care if Ukraine gets destroyed and devastated in the process. At all. They don't want Russian energy being sold in Europe and they don't want Russia to have influence in Europe. Europe is OUR shit. Think of countries as gangs, it makes even more sense. US is the biggest baddest gang, and Europe is OUR turf. As the first Secretary General of NATO Baron Ismay said long ago, the purpose of NATO was to keep the Russians out of Europe, the Americans in, and the Germans down. Russia snuck into Europe via oil & natural gas, and well we want them the fk off OUR turf.

US govt doesn't give a flying fk what happens to the people of Ukraine. US does not care about democracy, the territorial integrity of sovereign nations, international law, or any of that- and anyone who believes that load of crap is naive and might as well still believe in Santa Clause or the tooth fairy. The US is a great power, THE great power in the world, and like all great powers before it since the beginning of time it deals only in self interest.

Well said.
And that's why the rest of the world either hates us or fears us so much that they befriend us.
.
Imagine if (insert country here) had the biggest economy, 80% of the aircraft carriers, whatever % of the scary nuclear subs, whatever % of the nukes, was the only country so far to use nukes, and had military bases - MAJOR bases that encircled the planet.
Yeah, you should probably play nice with them.  Stay on their good side.
But you'd be scared of them.  And you'd resent them.  Especially if they were trillions in debt.  Especially if they took over a country that never attacked them (Iraq).  Especially if they stuck their nose in every conflict, requested or not.
.
The other countries that hate us don't hate us because we have freedom, it's because we're the biggest and strongest with an 85 IQ.  Our dominance is so redundant that it doesn't let anyone else in the world even breathe.
I love the U.S., but we're much more often a bloated embarrassment than a shining example.
