Yeah the Chinese have demonstrated tremendous concern over the environment and taken strong positive action to address it.

I think they were just pushing buttons to see how the US would respond.

And now they know.

Yep.

Pretty sure the most effective way to do that, is to infect their own citizens and then put them on planes to the US and other countries.

Releasing an airborne virus from a balloon 12 miles in the air would be... quite ineffective.

It was easy to down it.  Do you really think they were able to gain any insight beyond what they already get from spy satellites and other means?

The CCP is a problem and an enemy, but some funky spy balloon is of almost zero concern compared to the actual methods and areas where they are waging direct war against the US.  If you want to have a problem with the current administration over something CCP-related, start there, not here.

Thats great but reports are now coming out that their balloons have flown over the US undetected recently

so Ill stay here thank you

Its apparent CCP is probing us to see just what we will detect

we should have downed that thing as soon as we detected it

In the late 1990's, U of I UC started a massive campaign to atract Chinese Graduate students to the campus. The thought was that the out of country tuition would be a boon for the school.

In the early 2000's - 2003 I think, the school was accepting more Chinese into its grad school then it accepted kids from its own state (IL).

Think about this for a minute. And then think about this. They ain't here to study art history either.

There are around 3 Million total grad students in the USA right now.
