I am only going to post once on this topic, you all can say what you want about me after, I don't care.
First, Roe v Wade is one of the worst reasoned Supreme Court decisions in the history of the court and needs to be overturned. Any reasonable reading of the decision sees that the justices made up what they wanted. Rights found in the penumbra of the constitution. Well you can anything you want in the shadows because you can't actually see what is in a shadow. Again poorly reasoned.
Second, the issue of abortion boils down to where life begins. You either own your body or you don't. There is no denying that a baby in the womb is a completely unique DNA individual from the mother. It is not the mother's body that is ripped apart and being killed. (Intent ally loaded words) And ultimately that is where I lie on the issue. No one has the right to kill another person without due process of law (and there are many on both sides of abortion issue who believe we can't even do that after birth). We can talk about viability, but none of us could live without someone providing sustenance to us for long after we left the womb.
I would never tell a woman what she can or can't do with her body, but I will tell her she can't kill another human being. I am a pretty extreme libertarian and believe that fundamental to most if not all rights is the right to property and the ultimate property being your own person. And abortion is deny a person that right.
We can talk about the tough cases, but ultimately, at least according to the stats I have seen are only somewhere between 1% and 3% and those can be handled on an individual basis.
Abortions is a great immorality, deny a unique human being the right to life without due process. It is funny the court found a right that didn't actually exist in the constitution, but denied a unique person the right to due process which is in the constitution.
And before I get the "you only care about babies in the womb" I have been involved and supported organization which take care of women and their babies after birth with "troubled" pregnancy. I don't know any pro-life organization which isn't dedicated to being there after the birth.
