I'd like to see the business model for CNN+, it never made sense to me, the parts I thought I understood.

5 Reasons to Visit České Budĕjovice, Home of the Real Budweiser

https://www.praguemorning.cz/5-reasons-to-visit-ceske-budejovice-home-of-the-real-budweiser/

České Budějovice is the provincial capital of southern Bohemia and a natural base for exploring the region. Transport connections to nearby Český Krumlov are good, meaning you could easily take in both places on an overnight excursion from Prague.

The city was founded in the year 1265 by Ottakar II, the “King of Iron and Gold”. It took very little time for the Budĕjovice beer to make a name for itself; the Svitavy brewery was established the same year that the city itself was founded. The German name for Budĕjovice is “Budweis” – and, from this, we get the name “Budweiser”.

České Budĕjovice brewed up such good beer that, for a while, it was the location of the Holy Roman Emperor’s imperial brewery. The Svitavy brewery had a good, long run, closing only in 2002.

Other breweries include Pivovar Budějovický Budvar, or Budweiser Budvar Brewery; this one has the rights to use the brand name “Budweiser” throughout most of Europe. It has also successfully resisted all efforts from American brewer Anheuser-Busch to gain the exclusive right to the name. The brewery has a visitors’ center, where you can try the real, authentic Budweiser.

McKinsey & Co. consulting firm told CNN they'd have 2 million subscribers in the first few months. CNN execs actually thought they had 29 million "super-fans" of which they'd convert into millions of subscriptions. True story.

The idiots who launched it when it was part of ATT all got fired by the time ATT sold Warners Media to Discovery. Once Discovery got in there- they saw it was losing massive amounts of money and only had around 100,000 subscribers so they rightfully axed it.

No one watches CNN. Their average viewership age is like 68 years old. They don't even crack a million viewers on their highest rated shows/timeslots. The only reason they make any money at all is because of the legacy cable model in which they get crazy high carrier fees. Take those carrier fees away and that company would fold in 5 seconds flat.

NEW YORK (AP) - Exxon Mobil reported $5.48 billion in profits during the first quarter as oil and gas prices rose steadily, more than doubling its profits compared with the same quarter last year.

But the oil giant took a huge hit as it abandoned its Russian operations due to the war, writing down $3.4 billion.

Including that loss, the oil giant reported profits of $1.28 per share Friday, which was well below expectations of analysts polled by Factset, who were looking for $2.23 per share.

Revenue at the Irving, Texas company was $90.5 billion, which far exceeded the $59.15 billion in revenue during the same quarter a year ago.

FF not sure they'd recognize the Saki you quaff. I had read that in the 1830s or sumsuch the Germans in Bavaria, started tossing back the pilsners the Czechs were making across the border in Bohemia. As it was lighter and not as filling. So the Gerries started making Helles Lager(light bier) in response. So long before Miller/Bud were squaring off.......but not before Yuengling est.1929 - now you know the rest of the story.I'm winded think i'll grab a bier

When I was in college, we had no real choice in beer, to speak of.  A place downtown served Schlitz Dark, which I enjoyed a lot, but it was crappy beer.  We had Scholitz, PBR, Bud, Miller, Mic, and then Stroh came along.  No Coors, unless someone drove some back.  I think we could buy Heineken, but no one did.  I seem to recall St. Pauli Girl at some liquor shops.

My first day in grad school was taking exams, placement tests really, about 6 hours worth, so I walk downtown in CH exhausted and order a gin and tonic.  Much to my suprise the bar couldn't serve liquor.  There were only three bars for students in CH, a thing which still amazes me, and they were not large bars.

Setting aside the petty politics that no doubt subsumed that thing, it is an interesting bit of constitutional clarification. If one is into the policy elements of all that. Deciding that something like that is a public form vs. any element of government speech (that would thereby be endorsing one faith over another) is interesting in itself.

It's a bit of a shoddy piece of journalism, lacking a good bit of the context one would hope for, namely what happend before it reached the Supreme Court.

But the law of the land has been clarified, which is good. No doubt it will allow symbols of all faiths to fly proudly around government buildings, should certain communities ask for it.

Cincinnati ran into trouble with something like this, they allowed various Christmas decorations in a public square, including Jewish, which was fine, until the "KKK" showed up and wanted theirs.  Would you want them to fly a Church of Satan flag?

I don't care what flag a person chooses to fly, so long as it's an American Flag.

Were I in charge, I'd fly only US, state, and city flags in front of any municipal building on city property.
